FlightBeam ...your thoughts

Featured Replies

Hi, I recently got a new pc, (you can see my specs on my profile), and I am looking at Flightbeam, especially with the release of KDEN yesterday. My question for you is:

How does their airports impact performance, especially if I'm using FTX Global, vector and PMDG NGX from a VAS/OOM perspective.

For me, VAS/OOM is not an issue. FPS however with a heavier aircraft like the NGX does drop which I think is inevitable anyway. The hit isn't great but for me it's noticeable. I wouldn't let that deter your from buying any FlightBeam scenery though because all of them are amongst the best money can buy.

thanks, are you using other base scenery like FTX?

Their airports are very good with performance. Mir, the guy behind FB, is a clever artist who knows his stuff. In a nutshell, it's HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! :)

all good, as long as you have the wallet.

I am consistently impressed with Flightbeam sceneries.  I would place them as the leading scenery developer for FS.  Buy it!  Performance is amazing for the amount of detail and accuracy they give you.

On par with FSDT, a bit frame heavy but great scenery.

One of the neat features is the terrain on the field. Try the demo and load up on RY 35L - look to your right hehe!

I was simply blown away by the performance of DEN (not to mention the detail) on my PC.  I found myself asking why can't my other airports from other developers perform like it.

With Flightbeam you are talking about the best developers for airports. I downloaded it yesterday, and you realize how big this airport is.

The only problem I have, there has to be a way to overcome it, is that clouds are almost down to the ground, and that has to do with the sea level of Denver. Thus, how do we correct this problem ???

Use a different weather pattern (clear weather, etc) or real-world weather?

that what I am using, real world weather with rex, still crowds on the ground.

This is an FSX bug, but there's an easy workaround.  Once you've loaded, turn on menus (if you have them off) and go to the wx screen.  You don't need to change anything, just go there and then back to your flight.  The clouds will be where they should be.  Or, of course, use a 3rd party wx program.

If that's the case, then something's off with REX.  As soon as it loads its wx, the problem should disappear.  I don't use REX wx anymore having switched to ASN, but it always worked fine for me once the REX wx load hit.
