Does Kyle Rodgers need a hug?

That was sort of a tongue-in-cheek,

No biggie.

I hate to barge in here at the risk of derailing the "Bonhomie" (do any of the Americans here know of the Aircraft Carrier "Bonhome Richard" now retired and scrap metal?), but...

What the heck has Kyle done to deserve a hug?

Second question; since when do the Dutch "hug"????

Tom,

I can tell you, without a shadow of a doubt, the only time the Dutch hug, is when the Netherlands National Football Team wins a World Cup....

I suspect that those who can't deal with Kyle's style (sorry, couldn't resist) weren't alive in the days when Snave and Captain Slarty ruled the earth...

Those of a certain age will know what I mean.

I do indeed remember Snave, of course I remember him as a true SOB of the highest order. It would be really difficult for me to send him a hug.

Pretty sure the initial post was made more out of pity than support.  You know...the "I should give this person a hug so that they feel loved and stop hating everyone" and not so much the "I want to give this person a hug for being awesome."

Nice to see a positive thread for once after months of forum members pissing at each other about release dates, future projects and .... Kyle.

A hug from me to everyone! Summer has started and the sun is shining again!

Kyle said earlier this thread is not PMDG related, but this community in general needs lots of hugs and more positivism, that's why this thread is imortant for PMDG (and for Kyle of course unless he starts to feel overhugged when this thread comes to a third page).

Uhhh....Ok, yes, the Bon HoMMe Richard or Bonnie Dick (CV-31) as her crews called her has indeed been scrapped. BUT the original BonhoMMe Richard, was JP Jones' flagship in the Battle of Flamborough Head. It was there he uttered his famous "I have not yet begun to fight!" quote. It was also there the original BonhoMMe Richard sank, forcing Jones to transfer his flag to the captured British ship Serapis. The US won that engagement, by the way.

The next one was CV-31, as mentioned above.

Currently serving is the USS BonhoMMe Richard (LHD-6) a vertical assult craft. It carries lotsa Marines and either Helicopters, Harriers, Osreys or a mix, depending on the deployment. Her latest mission involved assisting in the S. Korean ferry capsizing in 2014.

So yes, the Carrier was scrapped, as it was a non-nuclear Essex-class boat from WWII, but there is still one serving in the US Navy.

Just a small history, and if no one noticed, spelling lesson :)

I think this hug is long overdue, now may I ask when will it be released?

If a bro-hug isn't released within 30 seconds it's not a "BRO" hug any more...

OMG Please stop this! Every time there is a championship our team manages to squeeze itself in my only hope is that they fail fast. Fans of "Holland" don't hug; they overdose on Heineken, sing bad songs, embarrass many with orange clothing, and proceed to demolish the city-center of Amsterdam.

Months ahead tv commercials start speculating about who will be the coach and why he will probably do everything wrong. Clubs hope their star players plead sickness or insanity so they won't come back "damaged", because even I have to admit they're our top export product, next to former-players-become-trainer/coaches. Oh yeah, and suddenly we all need to buy new TV sets, because let's face it, HD/3D/4k/curved TV's is what you absolutely MUST have to be able to enjoy football.

Nope, just give me my PC and FSX... much more fun. Throw in something to program and I'm even happier.

BTW on the subject of Kyle dialling back: I do hope it won't reflect in the voice he uses for his youtube films, because even though I think they rate among the top for usefulness and education, I need to be careful when I watch them late in the evening.

Thanks!  I really have been - partially at the behest of Tom, partially at the requests of people here, and partially because I re-read some of my old posts and think "man, that definitely could've been stated better/more nicely/etc."  I find it sad that I'll occasionally avoid going back into a thread because I know that I had been somewhat of a jerk in my prior response.  I don't like that feeling, particularly because it's my own internal admission that I was wrong, so I've been trying to avoid getting to that point.

It takes courage to admit we are wrong, and attempt to modify ones behaviour as a result of feedback.

A big thumbs up for you Mr Kyle.

But having said that, some will be aware that I did beam a new algorithm across the Atlantic, in an attempt to reprogram your positronic matrix.

Anyone remember?

Therefore, I would say my efforts were very successful.

I don't think it would surprise people to know that I'm a very awkward version of rather extroverted, but at the same time, rather introverted, as well.  I'm all for being around people, but after a while, I kinda hit my limit.  Example: spent Wednesday through Sunday with my younger brother and his friends in CHS for his bachelor party.  I spent this past weekend on solo bike rides, and lounging around my empty house (roommate was out of town, and my other roommate works an odd schedule, so...great success!) to "recharge the batteries," if you will.

That said, I don't usually brush off hugs - ha ha.

Good question.  Given the nature of the hug, it might just happen when it happens?

If a bro-hug isn't released within 30 seconds it's not a "BRO" hug any more...

If a bro-hug doesn't involve a smack on the back, it isn't a "BRO" hug any more...

At the same time, I don't quite agree with that convention.  I'm pretty sure my buddies and I go all out just to make people around us feel uncomfortable.  Like...Top Gun levels of it...haha (please tell me someone gets that reference...)

ha ha - that's a long standing problem.  If I'm tired, I don't inflect my voice very much and it gets a little Ben Stein-ish.  People used to note that on my instructor evals when I taught computer classes.

I do kinda remember...like Ben Affleck-style memory flashbacks in the movie Paycheck.  I feel like I remember something, but I don't quite remember it...must've been a good update.

Kyle Rodgers

I think it is in fact Ryan that needs a hug as he has been here since time in memoriam.   Tabs has done so much for many people, even sorted out my old computer for me in his own time!

He's been around almost as long as I have lol and his patience is admirable and constant.

All Kyle needs is a slap on the back really hahahaha.
