Just read Flight1 partnered with DTG now for the re-release of FSX..

I can't say NOPE enough after the way Flight1 treated Prepar3D users here (You know exactly what I'm talking about).  Two awful companies who are ambulance chasers.

What kind of partnership? Will they put their content on the Steam version of FSX?

Oh, come on. If you're going to take shots at these companies at least include a link citing a source.

You probably want to get your facts straight... The Flight1 announcing this is the UK company. The Flight1 you are referring to is the US company... Two different kettle of fish.

Apparently

Confirmed.

Wait, what? There are two completely different companies with the same name?

Same company, but two different management styles and personalities. And, for the most part, as I understand it, they operate pretty much independently of each other.

And what does that have any bearing whatsoever on us who use FSX?

Absolutely nothing, just like everything else in this thread.

Not so sure that's true. I would think that once the first company makes the move, especially this early, there will be growing pressure for others to strike similar deals.

Just a few years forwards, and in an alternate universe, most new stuff is coming through the convenience of steam, and Microsofts nefarious plan (insert maniacal laughter) to cut itself on on the dlc gravy train will be complete! (insert more maniacal laughter and optional flash of lightning)

This also gets maybe a few third parties accustomed to working with DTG and a bit less ready to bolt for safety when they are approached to make DLC for whatever new Flightsim offering (if any) turns up next year.

They may strike similar deals, but they are not all of a sudden going to abandon the FSX market that has existed since 2006. Please note that F1 did not say they are shutting down their current operations, or locking out FSX users from current offerings or future offerings, only that they are partnering with Steam. It's a fork in the road, not the shutdown of one road and an opening of another.

You could be right, but I keep thinking of the switch of AAA titles from PC to consoles.......

Not by any means an instantaneous process, but the convenience of auto-download and installation, portability from PC to PC, Steam DRM to help discourage copying, and all the bajillions of new possible customers who will now see the product, not to mention (hopefully) some much-needed quality control, would have a very good chance of altering this market completely.

That's if even Dovetail can find a way to make something as old as FSX attractive.

Whatever the outcome, how quickly this deal has happened shows DTG have no intention of being asleep at the wheel!!

Does anyone have a website address for Flight1 UK? I can't seem to find anything by that name.
