July 13, 201411 yr Wait... you're telling me to uninstall and re-install for the SP1? That's a first. (No offense to anyone). Every game I've played that has required updates or service packs (even FSX) I have just loaded on top of it and never had a problem. I'll just wait 'n' see. Same here. Did this for the NGX and never had any problem. I confess I'm surprised haha! We will not be requiring a clean install or anything like that. I tell the testers to do it with each new version just to make absolutely certain the correct version is installed and that the files are correct while things are in a beta state and changing so frequently. You are absolutely fine if you just install the SP1 patch version over top of your current install. You will just want to make sure you run the OC before installing so that it backs up your livery entries. Install SP1, then run the OC again and it'll restore the entries. Also - the update is not being distributed through the OC - it will be possible to download it from there, but we don't have the capability to directly update the products through the OC yet - that's coming in version 2.0. You'll be able to download SP1 from the website as usual. Thanks for the clarification! Gabriel J. T. Rodrigues My mods in the library My photography (site updated!) English isn't my native language. July 13, 201411 yr Agree with a clean install. I begun my uninstall today,,, backing up everything as usual. The PMDG website says my link expires in 52 days. So unless that was a mistake, I should be good to go. My question is for those with expired links and SP1 being a new build, will PMDG reactivate the download link or would they have to purchase the extended download before SP1 is released? May be a rhetorical question. Just wondering Darren Esannason
July 13, 201411 yr Why are people uninstalling this early? They said Tuesday at the earliest and usually they meet the end of their approximate release dates. Regards, Jeremy Chesney
July 13, 201411 yr Yeah, I've never heard of having to uninstall then re-install to install a SP. My system in running perfect, so I'll be installing the SP without uninstalling first. I'm counting on the talented coders at PMDG that everything will go fine
July 13, 201411 yr Yeah, I've never heard of having to uninstall then re-install to install a SP Nobody has said you have too, for the third time.Just like nobody has told you to sign your posts with your full name System: MSFS2024, ASUS Rog Stryx Z790-A, Intel i9-14900KF, Asus ROG Ryujin III 360 , Asus Hyperion Case,Rog Stryx 4090 OC, Samsung 970 EVO M.2 SSD, 1Tb Samsung 860 EVO SSD,64Gb G Skill Memory, Asus Aura 1200W Gold PSU,Win 11 ,LG C4 48" 4K OLED Screen., Airbus TCA Full Kit, Stream Deck XL. My question is for those with expired links and SP1 being a new build, will PMDG reactivate the download link or would they have to purchase the extended download before SP1 is released? May be a rhetorical question. Just wondering Given that it was released in September 2013, it is not possible to have the link expired yet, for ANYONE who bought it via legal systems. Yeah, I've never heard of having to uninstall then re-install to install a SP. My system in running perfect, so I'll be installing the SP without uninstalling first. I'm counting on the talented coders at PMDG that everything will go fine My system is running just right as well, so I will be doing the same, and only doing a full reinstallation if I have issues. I will create new custom panel states however. Wes Meyer
July 14, 201411 yr Cant see what all the confusion is on this, the way I see it you got 2 choices a clean uninstall/reinstall using your link when the sp1 comes out than it will be updated to the latest sp1, Or doing the sp1 patch over your original version you got installed. I be downloading the new version from my link before it expires, once the sp1 comes out than I can burn it to a disc so least I got the latest version on a disk for future installs if need be I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
July 14, 201411 yr I will delete panel states and autosaves before running the SP1 update and thats all. If things seems out of order There is always the option to reinstall! Best regards, Stefan van Hierden
July 14, 201411 yr For what it's worth the current beta of the SP1 install takes me about 2-3 minutes to run. Uninstalling the 777, reinstalling it, then putting the SP1 on top of it takes about 8 or so minutes total. We're not talking about a big deal here if you've saved your installers. As Ryan M points out, a complete reinstall won't be required for the RTM SP1 package. Us beta testers simply do it as a matter of preserving build version 'purity', so that we are definitely seeing the latest package PMDG sends us and can verify fixes/enhancements as they come through to us. July 14, 201411 yr Uninstalling the 777, reinstalling it, then putting the SP1 on top of it takes about 8 or so minutes total. Now you got me more confused here now by stating that, why would you uninstall the t7 and than re install using your saved installer than use the sp1 patch on top, wouldn't be better if you were to go down this way to download the installer from your download link which would be up to date with sp1 I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
