Getting the 777 just made me love the NGX more

I haven't bought the T7 yet, but the NGX is my favorite bird. It runs well on my PC, looks amazing, and suits my type of flying. I don't have that much time on my hands so the 737 is perfect for 2-4 hour flights.

Thank you PMDG!

Do we get a choice of last flight before we die, because with 3 hours to go before dawn here in the UK, I can still get in a flight on the NGX. After that I'll put the blindfold on myself.

Well not at all wanting to make it a negative viewpoint, but I do completely agree with the sentiment here.....   I bought the 777-200, and then on the release of SP1, I bought the -300 at the same time...    but I do just find the 777 a little sterile and uninspiring.    It just doesn't have the character of the NGX;  just doesn't "live and breathe" to the same degree as the smaller bird.

You can add taxi cameras, weather radars and every bell and whistle under the sun, but if the heart isn't quite there, it's just not going to compete with the NGX; the best flight sim addon ever released.

The NGX is the only a/c I have installed in FSX and it's been like that for many years now, I think that pretty much says everthing

There is real FSX wisdom there! And I beat you can go on VATSIM and fly a route form scratch like a real pro. Fact is that I like many others interested in Flight Simulation try to spread ourselves far to thin! A little bit of everything. The more you take on with a Sim the less depth and realism you can accomplish. I wish I was like Richard and could be focused enough to pick a bird and get to know everything about it. However I am a flake pulled in all direction; WOW look at that Discus, WOW look at that C172, WOW look at that NGX, WOW lock at that Q400. Nobody who can afford this hobby has the time to spread themselves that thin and really get all the details. Thankfully in my real flying I have only 3 aircraft to know and only 1 to know intimately. Don't want to sound like I am blowing smoke but I would say that short post is a gold nugget or FS wisdom. Not one the Devs. want to hear but never the less! I am committed to the NGX as my no 1. FS priority but there are many distractions. It is truly amazing to see 8 years after its release what FSX I capable of supporting.

I love 777 and the SP1 and just bought the 300.

But unless you turn every down including the cockpit res the new low res sound set.

Turn every scenery off and just have global plus the two airports your flying to and from and still get OOM, then ask yourself is it worth it?

Load the same flight with the NGX = Joy

But will the SP3 for the NGX screw it up? will the VAS make it another 777? I will not install if it does.

my concern as well (i think it is SP2 though) ..... we must keep a copy of SP1c.

besides, you don't fix something if it is not broken .. except add the asn radar & that's all, no operation centres etc !!!!

for now, cheers

My NGX gets more flight time than anything I own right now. SWA or Delta. Schedules are easy to find on flight aware for an evening of flying. I even ordered the Throttles, SB, and Flap handles for my Siatek quadrants and really get a better feel for the throttles that way. Cpt. out.

Best Regards,

I just can't get away with the 777's hand flying; it just doesn't feel right to me.... or maybe it's exactly right in which case I'd say that I just don't like how the real 777 flies.

And as others pointed out, the VAS usage and risk of OOMs when flying between detailed airports all just detract from the fun.    The -300 was an impetuous purchase for me, seeing as I was only flying the -200 once in a while! ....... but I don't regret it as I'm happy to support PMDG, for products like the NGX and the forthcoming DC-6.

Part of my 'issue' with the 777 is also just that I've realized I don't like long-haul sim flying.  (and no I don't like using it for domestic flights in Japan either ;) ).

NGX and Q400 are just perfection.

The more you take on with a Sim the less depth and realism you can accomplish.

My thoughts exactly. Something that has been on my mind for many years.

I too can't resist to buy, install and learn to fly new aircraft. But it gives me sometimes more stress than fun. Seriously.

As a real plane geek I find it really hard not to experience any top quality addon airliner. But I wish I could fly just one all the time.

So I frequently jump between NGX, 777, AXE and Q400, occasionally installing (and later uninstalling) some other stuff I bought on sales (like Cpt Sim's boeings).

Madness...

Thanks for your kind comments Dave!

I wouldn't call myself an expert but I do like the feeling you get after spending lots of hours in the same a/c and especially when flying online on VATSIM as you mention trying to simulate real airline OPs as close as possible.

Just for the fun of it I checked with my VA and found out at this time I have 1653.2 hours in the B738...time flies when you're having fun I guess

Like Richard, When I switched to FSX I only installed the PMDG NGX because the PMDG NG was, by far, the aircraft I flew in FS9. I haven't missed any of the other aircraft I had installed in FS9.
