Can relate to that. Once I switched to DX10, things really settled down. No tweaking and more flying. I am sure the OP will get there, once he has the right formula.

If this "hobby" is that frustrating and you want to pack it in and read pocket books, I say good on you for recognizing this isn't for you and move on.  Thanks for letting us know. And I sincerely wish you well.

 

However.....We have all had our frustrating moments.  Best thing to do, is leave it alone, take a break....come back with a determination to set things right.

 

And, if you do have problems, then tell us what the problem is...and we will all join in to help to see if we can fix it.  This post was either a simple 1.) I am frustrated and I really do plan in packing it in forever, in which case saying goodbye is a formal salutation OR 2.) I am frustrated and just want to vent. Which we all do once in a while and it can be good therapy and saying goodbye will spur you on to come back with even strong conviction to the hobby and find way to avoid having to reinstall, and be frustrated.

 

Now go find my posts (and others) on how to avoid this problem of reinstalling.  I never ever have to do a full reinstall, recalibrate whatever....the key, the solution is in fact to back up you entire sim including a back up all the configuration files for all the addons, scenery etc. Take the time to find out where they are stored (ie where does the FSUIPC store all its settings, perhaps it is possible back it up so I don't have to remap if a worst case scenario happens). 

 

A few years ago my root drive failed....I was up and running in a matter of minutes reconnecting my sim was easy...if you know how.

No clue on anything about being banned.

However, we are here for you if you want to get that sim of yours up and running.

 

Perhaps, if you have not already done so....look at a full sim back up along with all the configure files that support your sim (often found as you might know on the root drive).  This will remove any frustrations and hours of messing around getting things setup to work.  I have successfully done this and had to use my full backup, it is a wonderful thing.

I have felt the same way a few times too...but I just keep coming back.. This is a sickness. I tell ya,

I have seen these dark moments too. But FSX gives me a feeling of bliss, a sensation that can be rare in any sort of hobby. So in those dark moments, when I am tempted to walk away from pure frustration, I remember the last successful flight I had, and I suddenly realize "there is no way on earth I can give this up." Eventually, after some rest, and even perhaps a few days break, I find myself back at the computer vowing that whatever I have to do to experience that feeling of bliss again, I will do it. Sometimes that has meant days worth of work. The thing is, the payoff is always worth the frustration. When you are back in the air, the blissful feeling returns, and that's all that matters. As Steve Miller stated so eloquently in Jetliner, "You got to go through hell before you get to heaven." 

I do not know , I tried doing a flight 5 times, and each time some new problem crept up, and at the end of I hadn't even gotten out of the gate, and just wanted to uninstall everything.  I have so much FSX stuff that I really don't want to switch to something unless my favorite aircraft can all be used on that new platform, which sadly, the ones that I use the most often, will not work on any of the other flight sims out there, so I'm stuck using FSX, or nothing.

There is absolutely a direct link between FSX and operating systems. The more you spend , generally the better your prepared to enjoy a positive experience and then of course you have maintenance, keeping you rig free of dead drivers, defragging regularly, keep a relatively clean fsx,cfg and tuning your video card etc etc etc

 

For all we know the OP could be operating from $500 laptop

It depends on what type of aircraft you like to simulate in a flight simulator. There are always options, including a few mentioned in this thread Dragonmount, but there are also some decisions one can make, should we want to keep our preferred, long time sim...

 

0) Make a fresh clean install of FSX Golden. Apply the usual tweaks;

1) Try to be very selective about those add-ons you really really really need installed. If it's MSFS, a simulator I am no longer using for quite a long time, and if heavies are your deal, pick, say, one or two and install them;

2) Reduce add-on scnery to the least. The less the better. Maybe some global product for enhancing the whoe World, like Orbx Global, or the like....

3) For weather, use a good weather injector, and tune it to not more than 3 cloud layers ( that's more than enough ...)

 

If you keep it to the levels FSX was supposed to be used at, given that it's a program designed for the technology we had more than 8 yrs ago, I am sure you'll be able to make it run satisfactorily.

 

If you're up for long haul, heavy airliner simulation, consider spending the amount you would probaby spend in a full year of add-ons in Aerowinx PSX - the best 747-400 simulator ever made available. It'll run smooth nd crash free and you will also be able to use FSX, or X-Plane, for external visuals, which is what they do best after all....

 

Should you be after good flight Dynamics in the very first place, realistic physics modeling in a sim, than, even if you don't like the genre... just like I didn't.... consider some good combat flight simulator like DCS World, IL2 BOS or Rise of Flight - there are simply no flight Dynamics like those you find in these sims.

 

 I hope you get it sorted out. Flight simulation can bring us, just like anything in life, good and bad moments :-/

I'm tired. I don't like having to deal 40 problems before I can even begin think about flying. First it crashes because I don't have UIAutomationcore thing. Then it crashes because of some other unkown reason. Then I find out I have to remap my joystick settings back into FSUIPC after having to reinstall FSX. I'm done. All I want to do is click on FSX, and not have yet another new problem crop up. I just want to fly.

Why not try P3dv2 all those errors are gone. I've never had a ctd with it.

Unfortunately my eyesight is not good enough for real flying.

I've had that feeling. Just last night I went on Vatsim for the first time in months and it took me well over an hour to actually get ready to take off because of misc issues. FSinn taking forever to detect new aircraft models. Failing to connect to Vatsim for 15 minutes because I hadn't checked for the new server IP. Suddenly having 8 FPS for no reason at all forcing a game restart. Finally pushing and taxiing only to "crash" because I'd somehow turned those collisions back on and some errant airport vehicle ruined my flight about 10 meters from the gate. All this after at least an hour of more general FSX tweaking.

 

It was worth it though. The Oakland Center controller stayed online until I landed at SFO and he'd been on for 5 freaking hours. He could have just disconnected earlier but he wanted to get me down on the ground. Its stuff like that that makes Vatsim my main simming platform. Its what makes the torment of FSX worthwhile. I don't think I'd be so content to deal with the issues if not for the human component.

 

Its the same with DCS for me. I only started to regularly play DCS A-10C once I joined an online squadron. All the annoyances of DCS suddenly don't matter once you have people to fly with. Camaraderie is powerful, even for simmers.
