September 7, 201411 yr So, what does everybody think? http://www.airliners.net/aviation-forums/general_aviation/read.main/6174040/ Jonathan Monreal Visit A Flightsim Blog
September 7, 201411 yr Well, I'll be in the minority saying it looks good, just like when AA released their new livery. This livery will not go down well, but people will get used to it. It is a new face to show the demise of AirTran to solidify operations I suppose. Regards, Jeremy Chesney
September 7, 201411 yr I think those shots are taken too close and inside a building with the wrong lighting but from a distance it will look better. Best way to see a new paint scheme is in the sunlight while on final approach. I like the font used on the Southwest logo's and colours look good... From what I see it looks good to me. September 7, 201411 yr Canyon Blue looked so good. This looks like something I painted in kindergarten. If it aint broke dont fix it! Daniel Wasinski, SWA5594, Senior Captain, Southwest Virtual Airlines "Without a heart, it's just a machine."

September 7, 201411 yr I sincerely HOPE the colours will come out better in daylight. The livery itself is nice, with the right colours... Name available upon request
September 7, 201411 yr I wonder if it will be considered a marketing success when the overall impression by many commenters (on Airliners.net, anyway) seems to be "fast food" or "Burger King" or a hot dog? Now that these terms have been used, it will be hard for me to not make that association every time I see it.
September 7, 201411 yr I think it looks horrible (just my opinion, of course  ). I don't like some of the recent new liveries (AA, Iberia, and now SW). Nature Boy
September 7, 201411 yr Author To add my opinion: I don't think it looks bad, it just doesn't look particularly good. I do like the use of colors on the winglet, but I can't say I'm a fan of the website on the engine nacelle (while larger than putting it on the winglet, it looks a bit tacky), the white titles, or the way the yellow color transitions from the tail to the fuselage. I also dislike the loss of color on the flap fairings. With most airlines leaving these grey, the red was a nice touch. I wonder if they're saving money by not painting them red. September 8, 201411 yr Moderator I've always thought that with the exception of a few of their special liveries, they were the ugliest paint jobs of all the US carriers. I've never cared for the canyon blue paint job ane really hated the desert gold scheme, so this new livery is an improvement in my opinion, but still not that attractive. I saw one of the desert gold liveries taxiing past my window while sittting on the commode the other day and was reminded how much I hated that paint. I thought those were gone for good but apparently there are still a few of them around, three to be exact. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
