DSR - WOW - Must See

Featured Replies

Pictures above -without the zoom ones, are all in native resolution of 1920x1080!

Fine. so we will agree the zoomed pics are as misleading as it gets, since you obviously took the DSR ones and reduced them yourself to make them look the same size.

Now on the cockpit ones, I honestly don't know how much AA is 16x in DX10 fixer, but I'm having a hard time at understanding how you took the DRS screenshot at the same resolution as the non DSR one. Not trying to argue, just trying to figure out what's going on because for all I know, with DSR all the screenshots are saved at the DSR resolution, not the monitor's native one, please correct me if I'm wrong

Well the idea from using DSR, is that the image render at higher resolution only to be then scaled at your native monitor resolution.

In that case nobody can ever prove better quality due to scaling argument!

So I'm sure that what ever you see in my non-zoomed pictures is the real deal, and that's what got displayed at my end..

Yes, that's what I'm trying to say. They're scaled down by the built in Gaussian filter. If you take the 4x resolution screenies and scale them down yourself, they don't depict what you see there anymore

Thanks - but your monitor is native 1080 right - as your resolution in P3D will be higher for this to work - only care about your native resolution - seems for high resolution monitors DSR is not needed from what I am seeing, I am not getting these features with my monitor (2560x1440) so seems useless to me so far

As I said before, when both pictures are scaled down to my 1920 X 1080 it's displayed like that on my end..

So what ever difference you notice between the non-zoomed pictures is the real deal.

I agree with you about your monitor, but you still (I think) have the option to DSR up to 4K 3840 X 2160!

Still a bit confused down sampling - the method in your link is different than using DSR - right ? with DSR you are not changing your native resolutions in windows panels - in DSR you just turn it on and make the higher resolution switch in P3D

Not telling you just asking as I am not sure

By the way I have tried the windows resolution change and hated it

While there is no way to prove either of us right or wrong on that one, I'm almost sure that what I see in these pictures now is what I got while simming..

I see all of your points, and from what I've seen in FSX there is no-way to capture that exact picture you guys asking about..

So now we agreeing that DSR is nice?! but arguing about how I displayed the images? (because obviously there is no other way to do so)

Funny thing that OP & ORBX post had posted pictures using DSR with no body patting and eye and now everybody going nuts about mines, sigh

Anyway I gave up on this thread sooner than I wanted..

Give up why - I 'm with you all looks great on your end just want to do what you have done - want to try it - please explain or post a quick process of what you have done - can you elaborate on your process ?

Fair enough. Would you be willing to run a quick test with DSR on on my GPU test flight please?

It's just a saved flight on the default 737 with tons of clouds. Simply post your FPS if you can

I cannot seem to enable DSR, Here is my DXDIAG info, thanks for any help.

Hmm Jim you should be able to with that card - is it listed in your control panel ?

Well here we are at 21 pages of argument. Is there anyone with the technical expertise watching, who can perhalps help figure out if this thing is an improvement or is it just another trade off that is going to bite us in the butt later down the road?? I have seen everything from this may have blown up my GPU to..... my God!! just the driver alone is the greatest thing since Microsoft Flight!!

I just came off of a flight out of KORS.

I am running DSR 2.0/33%, (with a native 1920x1200) and I have never seen flight simulation like this...

NOW..I realize, that I wasn't waiting for a 700 or 900 series card that could render as close to what you see in the real world....no sir,...I was waiting for this driver  (344.48) to run my GTX680 2GB GC.

OMG!

P3D v2.4, as viewed with DSR, is drop....dead...gorgeous....anywhere you fly...O.M.G!

Wow...

Well after some coaxing from Steve W - I gave this another go and I think what I was not doing was NOT cranking up DSR Resolution - I now an running at 3413X1920 ----- DSR 3.0/33% --------- Antistropic 4X ---------- FXAA  Off ----------- MSAA 4X - Texture Resolution =1024

VSYNC ON - No triple buffering without VSCYNC on I am getting stutters while panning

My monitor is 27" 2560x1440

Man the menus are tiny now - but can live with it

1. My results - fps seem on par with out DSR

2. The image quality has a more of a wow factor - more realistic I guess - hard to explain

3. Water looks way better has a bit more of an fsx look to it actually at altitude use to look like a shiny sheet - now has the appearance of height to the waves

4. Maybe a placebo it seems like my Titan was not working as hard

5. Test Airbus 319 performed as well as the factory F22

6. Still have to test it with live weather

7. VC gauges are a lot clearer

So more testing to do but at first glance with the higher DSR seems a bit better than without but I do not have an ai program installed yet or any payware airports - but all mesh and orbx global and vector and REX4

I'm trying higher pre rendering AA and lower DSR magnitudes to find a sweet spot. Remember filtering lays out textures into the distance and its absence can be spotted on lower DSR magnitudes on wet runways.
