DSR - WOW - Must See

No joy on mobile cards still? Tried modding the inf file to no avail.. According to another thread (now p3d/fsx), a nvidia rep couldn't out a timeframe on if or when they would be available for laptop cards..

Any gurus able to help me and many others out?

This driver is for laptops to begin with - that being said I would assume you do not use the hack inf file - just use the driver as it is - may be your video card not sure as I would never own a laptop to run a flightsim - do all I can to run it with my beast of a pc

In its current form, it is only by default enabled on 970m & 980m laptop cards.

But users report fermi card are seeing huge benefits from them. I have a 670MX but unfortunately all the modded inf's that are allowing all desktop users to use this driver have not been modded further to allow any other mobile gfx cards (than those aforementioned)

So question is, is there someone with knowledge on how to mod the infs, able to add mobile gfx cards as well?

On the Guru3D site a guy has modded the driver exe file so no need to modify the inf, cant remember the thread but should be easy to find...........

I activated DSR on my 770 GTX a week ago. Yesterday evening i started my computer but the monitor got no signal any longer..

Is it possible the driver screwed up the gpu ?? My old card still works...

Thanks for any ideas,

Carsten

Well, I'm using the new desk-top driver for my GTX680 2GB card.

I am running 2.0 x my native resolution of 1920x1200.

I have never seen such clarity in a flight sim (presently in P3D v2.4), such clarity that what used to be (well..I don't know what it used to be, actually..) a sprite representation of a clubhouse building at Belle River, Ontario...on the spit of land that is the marina property...well...you can actually see what now looks like the clubhouse building out at the tip of the spit. The marina sea-walls are fully formed, and from 3,500 feet...simply look amazing. Heck...EVERYTHING looks amazing...and not one sacrifice of FPS.  This might be my last video card needed....clarity that you can almost see people swimming in those backyard  pools...wow!

The only trouble I have, is if I try to go from full screen, to the proper window screen in DSR mode, the driver craps out...and I CTD.  I will need to find out how you can start the A.I. management program from FUISPC.  Can anybody print the script, or tell me how to have it auto-run...for I can't get out of full screen, without the kiss of death...

Thanks!

Mitch

Please can someone (Richard :-) ) write a step by step guide on how to set nvidia control panel and which setting are "mandatory" select in P3D?

I tried in P3d at 4x 33% (my monitor is 1920x1080) and result are goods, then also in FSX and it seems perform better than before.

But I'd like to fine tuning to gain optimal results.

No driver modding needed anymore: http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/78873

Fab news!!!! even though the modded one is working a treat, gonna try the "official" version.

I would try to lower those "DSR smoothness" settings. I currently now run 5% only and the image is absolutely perfect like this. On my screen, I realized that anything above 20% for the DSR smoothness results in to much loss of sharpness in the image. I am sure that this DSR smoothness slider is the culprit here, as it seems that for every piece of software it has to be adapted and this most likely also individually depending on the monitor in use.

With what AA and AF in p3D?

With 4xDSR you actually do not need any AF anymore. I would still keep the 16xAF setting in nVidia Inspector though. And the driver forced negative LOD and this setting to -1.000. Basically what is described for DX10 in FSX in the guide. As I do not own P3D, I can't tell for sure how those Inspector settings will work, but AA is definitely obsolete when using 4xDSR (as it equals 4xSGSSAA...). But in the end, you can't avoid playing around with the settings some time to find your personal best solution, as each system and monitor setup is slightly different.

I still don't get it.  For those of you that are so thrilled with DSR, were you not using SGSS before? 4X SGSS is better quality and the same or slightly better performance than 4X DSR. So why would you use DSR? The only reasons I can see are (1) you can control the smoothing if you desire (not necessary if you are using MSAA), (2) you are not limited to 2X and 4X as options (but 4X is still best), and (3) it may eventually be integrated into GeForce Experience if Nvidia ever adds P3D.

You can't possibly be serious. No need for AF anymore?

Agreed. I can't test DSR here cause I switched to AMD, but I've read the Gaussian filter used by DSR adds an extra performance hit that SGSS doesn't.

SGSS is not supported in many newer titles, so DSR may have it's place there, but in FSX/P3D? I don't think it adds anything
