February 9, 201511 yr Rich, as you seem to be the current 'P3d Guru', IMHO, can you kindly tell me why is that when I try to point AivlasSoft's EFB Navigation Data tab in Settings to the correct AivlaSoft folder that contains that navigation data in the FSX root directory, I get as attached. Yet it is there, with data. Bit weird. Rick is this an fsx problem or P3D ? also its been a while since I have used this program but I think you have to have navdata reside in Aivlasoft folder structure not in fsx - you need to have navdata in two different places meaning anything you do in Aivlasoft has to see it where it wants - like when I purchase navdata there is a specific install for Aivlasoft Rich Sennett
February 9, 201511 yr Rick is this an fsx problem or P3D ? also its been a while since I have used this program but I think you have to have navdata reside in Aivlasoft folder structure not in fsx - you need to have navdata in two different places meaning anything you do in Aivlasoft has to see it where it wants - like when I purchase navdata there is a specific install for Aivlasoft Works absolutely a dream in FSX-MS and FSX-SE, Rich, and has done so for years. I just tried to install it to P3D as I want to gradually slide off everything FSX to P3D. Am currently holding the VAS quite well at the 850-924Mb mark over the Atlantic nearing Ireland. Not sure, as this my very first Trans-Atlantic crossing in the P3D PMDG 777-300ER. The AivlaSoft folder in FSX-MS is in its correct default place(see below). Yet, when I point AivlaSoft's DataProvider to it, I get that error message I attached. Rick Almeida
February 9, 201511 yr Hi, Anybody has a problem with a dual FMC failure and going direct to a point via the ALTN LEGS page ? The sim frezze and leave to windows, or continue to run, but the FPL dissappear from the FMC. I have had the same problem with the FSX version. I am in contact with PMDG for several weeks about this problem, but they told me there were not able to reproduce the problem. Anybody knows that, or would you like to try ? Thanks, Vincent
February 9, 201511 yr This is quite right, if you divide the price to the countless hours if enjoyment we get out of it, it's a very good deal. The world is changing. software as we know it is moving leaps and bounds in new directions. much of It is moving to the mobile world where you download it for free but pay for value added content. it simply makes me smile when comments are made about the cost of software. As an example, I have been playing a top grossing war game from a certain App Store on my iPad where the cost of simple speedups, gems and chests full of consumable items cost very nealy the same amount of money as the highly complex aircraft that took many months of time and effort to write. If you so wish you can spend $139 on somethong you consume within a game and once it's used up you have to spend more. The hard fact is, people do and in such huge quantities that it would make your eyes water. It's a business model that is becoming ever more prevalent. In this day and age, that price point is clearly seen as a weekly entertainment budget. I simply wanted to put things into perspective so forgive me for going off topic. i personally feel that within our hobby, we are getting a pretty good deal. Of course, everyone has a free choice and an opinion and this is mine. Bri Stefan Ticusan
February 9, 201511 yr Works absolutely a dream in FSX-MS and FSX-SE, Rich, and has done so for years. You may have to install it with Estonia migration tool to get it to work for P3D - just not sure on this one as I have not tried it in P3D There is a new version for P3D out do you have this latest version Rick http://aivlasoft.com/specifications/index.html Rich Sennett
February 9, 201511 yr Rich, yes, got that latest Update last February. May need that EMT as you suggest. Thanks Buddy for all your help. Rick Almeida
February 10, 201511 yr Rich, yes, got that latest Update last February. May need that EMT as you suggest. Thanks Buddy for all your help. Your welcome but you wont need the tool as it appears they have a P3D installer - but good to have Estonia tool for other software installs - works perfectly - having both fsx and P3D I think its confused in some way - make sure you have all rights to any folder pertaining to flightsim - the take ownership program its free - I use it all of the time especially after installing new simming software may be overkill but want to be sure - quick install pick folder of choice then right mouse click on it and hit take ownership let it run dont stop it can take some time especially on main sim folder Rich Sennett
February 10, 201511 yr 1st Post-P3D Long-Haul Report: Just completed a long-haul Trans-Atlantic flight using the P3D PMDG 777-300ER. No OOMs, no terrain.dll, or G3d.dll, or any *.dll errors causing a CTD, and given my modest GPU, throughout the flight I was never below 1Gb VAS and in fact landed, night-time, into default EGCC, with just under 500mb VAS remaining. To have completed a long-haul flight in the PMDG777-300ER without any OOMs is, for me, at least, the ultimate nirvana. This justifies the outlay on the PMDG777 dual package P3D. Rick Almeida

February 10, 201511 yr Thanks for that encouragement from a P3D Pioneer. Now just need to sort out the GSX and EFB thing, and I'll be in clover! Rick Almeida
February 10, 201511 yr Thanks for that encouragement from a P3D Pioneer. Now just need to sort out the GSX and EFB thing, and I'll be in clover! I can try to figure it out but for the time being off to shovel 5 ft of snow off off of you name it - just crazy here 70 inches of snow in two weeks not good Rich Sennett
February 10, 201511 yr Took off from standard CYYZ heading for home, EGCC. VAS was around 842Mb before I had even taken off. Using Rob's settings. No weather add-ons. Now at cruise not too far from Northern Canada's reaches, and the VAS now reads 900Mb. At least it is not going the other way. So, perhaps the more experienced P3D users can comment on this. Is it because the ground below is not as heavily textured as at say the default CYYZ? That was a gamble I was contemplating to take before I pulled the switch and bought yesterday. Rick, what other add ons do you have? No weather, which tells me you did not use weather radar. Do you have any ORBX products ,etc? Add on airports? REX textures? Trying to compare your VAS usage to mine. That is great that you had a good flight across the pond, but I was not so lucky going west to VHHH. Phil Long
February 10, 201511 yr Just a question for those using P3D, doesn't the limitation of LOD (Level of Detail) bother you? From my understanding it's limited to 6.5 and even so that's not the same as FSX 6.5. My testing with FSX at 6.5 is nice clear crisp textures, whereas with P3D blurry all over the place. One reason I'm sticking with FSX.
February 10, 201511 yr Phil Only tweak I did was use Rob Ainscough's set-up. To that I added FS2Crew for the PMDG T7 as I wanted to add some flight prep realism sat at the gate, as well as to check if I'd get any CTDs at the gate like I did with FSX-SE. I have a multitude of ORBX products but was not/am not sure if they'd work in P3D, so have not explored that route. REX I bought ages ago and still have not figured to use it, or posted in their Forum awaiting some verification nonsense, which I never got, so have not installed that in either FXS-MS/FSX-SE or P3D. I read your VHHH post. That's my next goal, FlyTampa's VHHH to FSDT's PHNL or LAX. Surely, if we have technology ala Samsung's tv sets picking up conversations and relaying that data to some obscure hidden farming server, then code-writers at LM should be able to address this VAS sceptre that to quote a poster, 'hangs like the Sword of Damocles' above our hobby. 70 inches of snow i Amigo, please don't get lost in that white stuff.
