New Driver Nvidia 347.52

1.  who you know

I have reason to suspect, but I am not at liberty to go into specifics, that a former high level participant here in FSX development is now an NVidia developer.  I don't know what he's been up to lately (well, I do, but not in terms of P3D), but I only say that there is crossover between the FS and NVidia crowd at a some level.  There is interest there.

I suspect what is going on behind the scenes is the typical banter back and forth about performance tuning, with both sides working together on their sides of the bridge to put together what is an example of what they know is possible to achieve instead of tossing out a gristly bone which would just probably scare most of faint-hearted to some other less demanding hobbies like playing Evolve.

I hope Rob's guesstimate of end Q1 will prove accurate

Let me clarify, that's about how long I'm willing hold onto expectation ... if that doesn't happen, no information provided by anyone will matter until I see an new P3D profile in an nVidia driver.  I'm pretty patient, but I do have my limits.

Anyway, onto something more positive ... 347.52 drivers do work fine for me and I didn't experience any issues that others were reporting.  All lights are present and accounted for.  I haven't really noticed any difference in performance ... seem about the same as the 337.88 drivers I used prior.

A test flight around KDEN in a Milviz 530F loaded up with high UT2 traffic settings:

Cheers, Rob.

Rob, the Ultimate VFR night lighting in the Denver area would go beautifully with that KDEN.   It's honestly worth checking out the link for them in the bargain bin over there ---->

I've just always thought that it would be strange if no one at NVidia had any love for FSX and is current on where it's going, P3D.  A few days ago I encountered someone in another non-gaming context with NVidia that confirmed that suspicion.  They don't all loath us :).  Actually we can probably be sure P3D is on their radar.  I don't know what that means from SLI driver development plan perspective; maybe something like "at least she still wants to be friends".  Heh.

I apologise Rob for misrepresenting your intention. Clumsy of me. :fool:

Does it have anything to do with the fact that P3D does not have an actual full screen profile? Isn't it just a window with everything blacked out?

If I'm not mistaken, the full screen thing is why Crossfire doesn't work with P3D. There are better heads here that can confirm or shoot down my suspicions. But maybe that's the stumbling block. Perhaps it would require a new a parallel development of  driver for P3D only. The odds of that happening are really slim.

I can't possibly see why Nvidia would stick their thumbs in LM's eyes. On the other hand, the rate of sale for some of these other games is amazing. If your're Nvidia and looking at a game with potential sales of 6 or 7 digits, mostly played by young people (who will buy more graphics in future cards than an older guy like me); where are you going to put your time and effort? I know I'm stating the obvious here...sorry. What if Nvidia instituted true full screen for multiple graphics cards only? They would know how many cards are in a machine.

I only have one graphics card. Not going to buy another until SLI works in P3D. I don't tax the computer with anything else.

The same for me - holding off with a new build until I see really an improvement  - but maybe not too long anymore (hopefully).....

Win10 - DX12 + NVIDIA SLI + P3Dv30/64x.....hmmmmmmm looks like a bright future

Just my 2 cent's
