AI Controller 1.4 (SID, Jet Route, STAR and Final Approach) (New) Beta

The Center Runway is closed for landings in both directions (EDDF v8 Freewa re, optimized by myself), There´s also no STAR or Approach for the Center Runway for the same reason.

Thanks, I'll add that (I've had other requests for reading this data as well).

just found another little thing..... but its not the first time it occures, but I just now took some screenshots..

I think I already have this fixed with the next hot fix.  I was hoping to release it this weekend, but then I bough the Latin VFR KMIA scenery and was very surprised to notice every runway in the scenery had broken runway links.  I'm writing code to detect and handle this situation.

Does anyone know why some scenery designers break runway links (I don't think it is by accident)?

That's interesting...it seems to be finding the files. I wonder if the program doesn't have write permission. Is the program installed in a program folder? Have you tried running as admin? The next hotfix I'm about to release checks for the case where zero scenery files are found (due to error) although based on your description it seems the scenery files are being read.

Hi There!

The program is indeed installed in the deafult program folder, as in d:\AIController\AIControllerV14B.

And yes, I've tried running as admin as well.

This time I was able to capture a few screens of what Perfmon shows.

This first one shows that indeed AIMonitor is reading the right files:

Clipboard01_zpsdhjhjkhy.jpg

On this second one, you can see that the only file now being accessed is a .NET one, and the processor is now at 100% (25 because its quad), and stays there forever without accessing any other files:

Clipboard02_zps4nkisddg.jpg

Hope this helps.

Thanks!!

Well, the only reason i can imagine is to force FSX not to use certain runways and taxiways. Maybe the locig of FSX is struggeling to find acceptable routings on ground.

Did you ever thought about to build a partnership with sruffyduck (Airport Design Editor)?. ADE already contains a fault finder and lots of other appericiated functions that currently not are used by FSX/P3d.

If you Team up with scruffyduck maybe some things would work easier for you, ending up in special functions editable graphical in ADE only used in AIC for ground Traffic. Or e.g. by using the full xml code (bgl2xml) you have already informations of taxiway with so you have advanced navigation infos and so on...

I really enjoying this development,

Can someone tell me how AI traffic fly a flight level, I have several AI add-on software like UT2 and MyTraffic 6 but all seem to have cruise level that are all over the place like 777s cruising at 26400ft or at FL370 east and west. (non RVSM)

In UT2 the user can customize each airlines route and altitude to correct this problem but I don't have the time to customize thousands of routes.

Using the route option in AI controller (which I haven't got working yet) is there away of overriding the dodgy flight levels that UT2 of MyTraffic assign to the AI?

thanks

He did give me permission to use his very helpful airportList.dat file!  I would literally be a year behind where I'm at now if I didn't have the ADE X tool.  Jon is right up there with Peter as a keeper of the flight sim flame IMO.  Still, right now I'm just focusing on getting 1.4B (the feature set is starting to get locked in) into reasonable shape like 1.3B.

Thanks, it almost seems like the program is looping?  I've added additional loop check code in the next hotfix (I only use one condition-based while loop, so if that is the problem, I should be able to find out).

Also, I added some other minor fixes to the next hot fix that, while I'm not optimistic will fix your issue, should probably be tried first just so we can rule things out.

In the mean time, just to confirm, you never see a message box pop up after 100% is reach that states something along the lines of successful decompile?  Also, how fast does the progress meter go to 100% (almost instantly or in a gradual process like it is actually decompiling scenery)?  Finally, have you tried running AIMonitor with admin privileges?

Yes, just make sure you turn off UT2 compatibility in AIMonitor (off by default).  In AIMonitor you can select the range of jetroute flight levels by engine type (e.g., jet, turbo).  The AI are assigned to an appropriate level within that range based on east/west direction (although I've gotten some feedback that sometimes an AI can be seen at an inappropriate east/west flight level -- still looking into this).  Sometimes the AI will bust their enroute flight levels if they get too close to the user's enroute aircraft (collision avoidance).

Greetings, the development on this program is really impressive.  My apologies if this has already been covered somewhere in this topic, but 35 pages is quite a lot to go over and I want to share my thoughts while they're fresh in my mind.

1)  Being able to tell the AI which runways to use, having the 50/50 split, or the 33/33/33 etc, does this mean that we're seeing the end of the star runway process?  I'd say that would be music to my ears, I have many airports with multiple ADEX files for different runway configurations; JFK, ORD, BWI, PHL for example.  BOS, my home airport, I have four ADEX files, one for each runway use configuration.  Since the international traffic is increasing quite rapidly with new airlines, and airlines are moving around, I have four files to fix for one airport...it's quite tedious to say the least.

2)  At some point, do you foresee perhaps using ADE to graphically set parameters...basically a one-stop-shop for all AI-Traffic behavior?  I thought of this in response to the partnership with scruffyduck that was mentioned, but I have always thought it would be great for each airport file to have a rules section that would dictate which runways to use for certain conditions.  Click on a runway, add in rules such as when wind is between these headings, this runway will be landing, takeoff, A380 only, heading to transition waypoint, etc.

3)  Is there the ability to assign immediate departure headings that are different that runway heading?  For instance, at MDW, departures on 31C that are heading E/SE will make an immediate turn to the east to avoid the ORD airspace and level off at 5000' until the coastline.

Anyway, just some ideas I thought to share.  This software is beyond huge for the flightsim community, well done!

I have read through many pages and if somebody could help me with two items. One, nothing to do with this great add-on,  is there a way in AVSIM to search within a forum thread?  I see the search box but  am i missing something about within a thread other than Crtl-F on each page?

Now something to do with AI Controller.  I seem to be having planes land using both end of the runway.  Today I was touching down  at YSSY 34L and traffic was using both 34l and 16R. Winds were correct for 34L and there was a nice line  on approach for 34L, but also 16R.  Using AS2012, with default settings except jet routes enabled. If this has been addressed before and i missed it apologies.

Probably what is happening is that when FSX first starts to run the wind is in one direction and AI are assigned runways to match. They will continue on this assigned approach until all that have been assigned have landed. However, if the wind direction changes sufficiently in direction by say a weather program kicking in, new AI are assigned from the opposite end.

There is a setting under the Options tab to force a certain runway into use. this will make aircraft incorrectly assigned break away from their approach and set up for the forced runway.

I use this trick sometimes to prevent AI backtracking on the runway in "search" of the nearest runway exit.

For 2: that is what i have in my mind too. ADE is already a very powerful tool, to use it to set special commands related to AIC would be a new milestone.

Roland, you mentioned that Pete (Dawson) and Jon are the keeper of the flame. But with no doubt, YOU are about to be a further member in the hall of fame of flightsimming. A rigid link between AIC and ADE to do some things graphical... well, i cannot oversee the potential of such a relation.

For 3: Depends on the SID. If you set the handover to AIC to about 300ft (Vectoring and Traffic Patterns--- AI Climbout Height for Vectors), the AI is heading directly to the SID entry. I do it for TNCM as well and it looks quite realistic.

Great to see the progress on this Roland.

I haven't been flying much due to work and also it was summer down here in aussie and I don't have a cooling fan. Which equals no flying..

Anyways, I'm sorry to ask you this, as I'm not sure if it's been addressed while I've been away, but I was wondering if the LOWI issue I discussed with you in the previous version has been corrected?

Let me know if I need to refresh your memory on that one. B)

Cheers Roland, and bless you to infinity!

Hi again.

I do not see any pop up for the decompile, nor does it go beyond 0% complete on the progress meter.

Regarding CPU usage, the first 30 secs or thereabout, it stays in 10% CPU, then slowly grows to 25% CPU, where it stays forever.

Yes, I have run it as admin too.

Thanks!

Maybe a stupid question, but by chance: Did you switch AIMonitor into P3D Mode? One can oversee this Radiobutton easy...

It is easy to do just this. I had AiController happily whirring away then accidentally clicked over the button and all went pear shaped the next time I loaded. I thought I would be in for an evening of adjusting and testing then noticed the change. Perhaps a big message identifying the Sim for which it is being prepared could be incorporated at the start requiring a response before initiating the load routine. Just a thought.

Yes, you can force the splits on-the-fly including crosswind landing runway operations.

Is there the ability to assign immediate departure headings that are different that runway heading?  For instance, at MDW, departures on 31C that are heading E/SE will make an immediate turn to the east to avoid the ORD airspace and level off at 5000' until the coastline.

Yes, you can tie the SID to a particular runway, then insert an initial SID waypoint that causes the heading change.  I included some in the package for the KLAX loop departure, KJFK noise-abatement, KDCA security departures, LOWI mountain-avoidment, etc.

Andy has some good points...also force the landing runways if you don't want to take a chance (e.g., departing after taking a long-time to set up your aircraft, landing after a long flight).

Yep, I just noticed stock FSX doing this!  I think the next AIController hot fix will have better runway-exit logic  (at just one sample-per-second I always hasten to add  B) ) and won't need to rely on broken links.

Let me know if I need to refresh your memory on that one.

I think the issue has been addressed because in enhanced-mode the AI won't have to intercept the LOWI FSX-generated IAF(s), which caused problems with where the AI enterered  the custom approaches.  Still, could you refresh my memory?
