Nice avatar BTW.

Man, that's funny.  Absolutely killing me with laughter. One for the FS annals.

When I'm ligned up with the runway, I try to activate the localizer but I can't. In the FMA LNAV and VNAV are still displayed. ILS Frequency is right, I checked it 5 times.

Are you receiving the LOC or GS?  If you are receiving the signals then there should be course and altitude deviation markers on the PFD... hopefully you know exactly what we're asking.

Hi, Lukas,

Did you check the frequency autotuned on the FMC Nav/Rad page against the frequency showing in the FSX airport, by using the Map function in FSX?  (If you are using P3, I don't own it but I'm pretty sure there is a similar function.)  There can easily be a discrepancy between the 777 database and the FSX (or P3D) scenery.

It would help if you would specify a particular runway at a particular airport.

Yeah, I checked it 5 times and it was always correct.

Which runway at which airport, and what Airac version of Navdata do you have?

Today it worked, I have no idea why. I'm going to test it the Next few days.

I suspect it worked because you were receiving the signals.... you never answered that question so i assume you dodged it on purpose.  If you're not sure how to tell if you are receiving the LOC or GS then that is a valid question.  Hope to hear back from you.

He probably did along with other questions. Didn't want to reveal operator error.

How about reading Introduction.pdf manual at page 94?

Uh?  On page 94 I see options setup in the FMS.. is there a relationship? Just wondering.

Dan,

I'm speculating, but I believe he was insinuating the problem the OP is having could be based on his not having updated AFCAD/Scenery (updated AIRACs without updated AFCAD or Scenery).

I'm not sure if this was ruled out for the OP, but it may have been for others who posted the same problem here.

As I said, this is complete speculation on my part (akin to extracting information from somewhere between my lower extremities).  :P

  • 1 year later...

Kyle,

I've been noticing this same problem recently, where the T7 is no longer able to activate the LOC/APP buttons when localizer alive is called out or when the glide slope becomes active. These buttons do absolutely nothing. I'm left manually landing the T7 which I enjoy, but its virtually impossible when their is next to zero visibility.  Nevertheless, this was not the case before the most recent update (1.10.7025) of the T7. So I uninstall/reinstall both the 772/773 but doing so did not resolve the issue.

I am almost certain its an issue because I see it often into KSFO, RWY 28L and 28R when they were never an issue before. I can't remember right of hand what STARS I used  to these runways, but none of them makes a difference anyways. I'm currently using the latest AIRAC 1602, but have also seen the same problem with 1601. I am also using the latest version of Fscrew if this matters. I haven't logged a ticket and thought I'd check here first. Any help is appreciated. BTW, I'm and FSX user. Thanks

It very rarely does. The issue usually lies elsewhere - usually with some other piece or software interacting, some configuration item not set correctly, or a knowledge issue - so most of the time, it's a giant waste of time. I know people toss it around as a cure-all in this hobby, but it should really stop. It can actually cause more issues than you're trying to solve.

Is the LOC actually active, or is it the LNAV/VNAV cues? I have a feeling your sim isn't broadcasting the data the 777 is looking for (remember that your nav data is up to date if you're updating it with Navigraph/Aerosoft, but if you do not keep your sim's airport files up to date, they'll get out of sync), or you have bad nav data.

Here's an off-the-cuff example of the SFO 28R approach. Keep in mind that the nature of this video is merely to show that the aircraft performs as intended. While I'm following my own procedures out of habit, some items may be out of place due to the last-minute, example-based nature of the flight (i.e. spare me the nitpicking :P ):

Kyle,

I appreciate you doing this. I tried it again and it did work at ksfo Rwy 28L. I don't know how but im happy. I think I will check the other major hubs I fly into where i have seen this issue. Mainly fsdt klax and flight beams kphx. I've had the aircraft within weeks following the original release and seeing the issue multile times only after the latest update kinda threw me off. Anyways, I will drop back this way if left unresolved. Thanks again.
