A tribute to METAL...KMCO-KJFK

Featured Replies

I have a very special place in my heart for metal liveries...and sadly were're losing one when American finishes updating its fleet.

With that said, I'm doing a series on metal paints...starting with one of my all-time favorites, one of the iconic airlines in American history.

Eastern, I really, really miss them in the skies.  I remember taking a flight out of KATL the day after they shut down operations, and seeing all their beautiful 757s, 727s, DC-9s and L1011s all parked at the gates.

Here is the lovely 757 in that exquisite livery..."the Hockey Stick"!  With an AA 757 brother on departure (and the focus of the next in the metal series)

A close up on departure, love the RR emblem, classic on this bird!

This is one of my favorite screens I think I've ever snapped...and I've snapped thousands!  En-route to NY.  Not sure why the jpg optimizer messed up the blue sky. :(

Please chime in and let me know your feelings about these classic liveries!

Stay tuned for more in the metal series.

Nice shots Steve. As bland as it is I always loved those bare metal liveries.

Thanks Aharon.  Not sure I still have the A300 masters, but I'll look and see if I can find them.  Do you have any pics of the Eastern you're looking for?
