According to its website It seems be covering the angles:

In addition modern, up-to-date tools such as World Machine, GeoGlyph, Global Mapper, and many others, along with superb 3D models, textures, as well as the latest geospatial data from resources such as GeoTIFF, NASA , USGS LCI, European Environment Agency (CORINE), GLCF, OpenStreeMap , Vector Data and Raster Data, we fully expect to create the most comprehensive full planet earth model ever created.

I think NGIS developing their sim around the UNiGiNE 2 engine.  Don't think UNiGiNE is directly involved. See no reference to NGIS on their site.

I occasionally check their forums on the old NGFS site for info before the change, but the new site the forums are not active yet.

The way I understand it, Unigine is responding the same way Outerra would if somebody wanted to use their tech. Supportive, and maybe even willing to implement useful features, but in this case not directly involved.

The wild card is this mysterious company/group that is apparently now working with the NGIS.

Just before the initiation of the new site, there was a thread entitled "NGFS is turning a corner" and it was full of optimism about this new partnership.

Yep, I've read that also.

I hear you. Thanks. A few years ago, we decided to download photoscenery from one of the map servers out there. What a mission... with odd coloured tiles, remapping of coastlines etc. We gave it up!!

Imagine if it was actually fun for your students to work on the scenery.

Wow, this thread has exploded. But yes, I have heard Dovetail is really taking pride in the soon-to-be-revealed simulator.
