Thanks Dan, not the cheapest sceneries but well worth the money.

They're being sold at a discounted price at the moment at the above links, so I was thinking of picking them up.

Anyone know if they will play nice with FTX UK sceneries?

Does the boxed version still require a connection to their crappy installer that no longer connects? Looks like I'm going to have to buy the boxed version of IofM too as I can no longer reinstall it via the installer. Gutted.

No from what I understand the boxed version is standalone. I agree that the installer wasn't great. However it's a magnificent scenery and worth the trouble.

One thing I had to do (many thanks to the poster on here who gave the advise) when installing from box is pull out your ethernet cable or disconnect from the WiFi before starting the install, otherwise it will fail as it will try to connect to the old servers to download some files rather than get them off the disc.

Really nice scenery, Is there any chance to get this to work in P3D 3.1 ?

Mike

I'm running a backup from when the ES servers were still active and I installed it through the ES-installer, but it works fine. Textures and BGLs are P3Dv3 compatible.

Excellent, thanks for the infos. Will give it a try and have just ordered Isle of Man and Guernsey. A bargain indeed !

Got the DVDs from Flightstore. While Isle of Man EGJB looks good, except grass green summer textures around, so the texture switching doesn`t seem to work.

Guernsey doesn`t look good at all, especially around EGJB. Terrain plateaus, some buildings and cars sinking into the ground and the Airports partially flooded with water.

Looks like P3D uses different Mesh ?

I tried to deactivate some entries in the scenery.cfg, there are lots of them for Guernsey. No luck so far.

Did anyone get it to work ?

Do you have any other Guernsey scenery packages installed, Mike? Maybe one of those global European scenery packages? It works fine for me in P3D v3.1, but I don't use any scenery packages outside the UK and Ireland VFR photographic scenery DVDs.

Do you have UTX Europe installed? Guernsey is one of the corrected airports in UTX so you have to exclude it in the UTX configurator if using ES Guernsey.

Thanks, Tom, but no luck so far. Tried that and later I even deactivated UTX completely. All looks normal, but as soon as ES-EGJB-Guernsey is active, I get this plateaus and sort of "holes" in the terrain.

Besides UTX Europe I have only FTX global installed.

Hmm, not sure what else to suggest but I've seen this before I'm sure of it. Is EGJB at the top of your scenery library?

Do you have the following file in your World/Scenery folder?

Thanks, Christopher !! I'm one step further now. It was not in world/scenery, apparently the installer had put it in the Program Data folder and not in the main P3D folder.

So the terrain looks OK now. Now the "only" remaining problem are the missing Airport buildings. I see just the Apron and plenty of cars and some other objects.

Moving the airport bgl to the top of the scenery library does not help, also sorting like this didn't help :

The current state looks like that :

Mike,

It looks like you are missing a huge number of buildings and other objects. The land that you can see behind the airport in youir screenshot should be packed with detailed objects! Can you provide a top down view of an area of Guernsey (so that I can see if you have the proper textures installed), and also one or two other areas of the island? Is the island almost empty of objects? It should be filled with buildings and all kinds of other objects. Guernsey is quite densely populated with objects, and the Earth Simulations version depicts that very well indeed!

Looks like the installer hasn't updated the shared autogen SPB file with the new ESI autogen

Cheers

Seems I really messed up the installation, so I tried the Repair function in the installer and the buildings are there at the Airport now !

I'm still not convinced it's all as it should be, because except Airport and roads and road lights it's empty around the Island. So apparently no Autogen at all (also at Isle of Man)

Which folder do you point the installer to ? If I use the main P3D folder, it complains about not finding scenery.cfg and as far as I remember during the Isle of Man Installation, also about an Autogen folder.

There is no spb file on disk with any *ES* in the folder name, should there be one and where ?

Do I need the 'Autogen compatibility pack', as mentioned in the above mentioned Earthsims info ? The link is now dead though.

Kevin,

here's the excerpt of my scenery.cfg. To keep it a bit shorter, the three entries Layer=<Number>, Active=True, Required=False are always identical .
