December 16, 201510 yr No my gauge won't work with this weather engine. It's based on the ASN API. Sorry Thanks for replying. I am sorry too! I look for certain things now with GA aircraft. One is the GTN 750 integration and the other is weather. Is there any way your gauge could "see" the weather from FSGRW? I am wondering how Aerosoft do it? But of course its all magic anyway. I have tried the WX gauge in P3dv3 and it fails. There is no more support for it, which is a shame. Regards David
December 20, 201510 yr "A Weather Radar api is being worked on. This will be a documented api for free usage".From the FSGRW (Pilots) website!
January 5, 201610 yr Ok - I'll give it another go. BTW, does ASN need to be running for it to work? My problem was that after install, Clicking on the VC panel brought up a black rectangle but nothing else. None of the click spots on the gauge it self were working - couldn't turn it on/off or anything but pop it up. I have the GTN750 installed also I used the dll downloaded from Avsim and the panel.cfg file in the downloaded radar zip file. EDIT: got it sorted out - just manually edited the panel.cfg file. Same as you and other posters above, except for the happy ending. I bought this aircraft a couple of days ago thanks to an interesting bargain on PCAviator and I am enjoying it a lot, in general. However, no luck with the free weather radar. I strictly followed the instructions, checked the installation of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) (which was already in place), added the RolASNRadar.dll to Gauges folder and changed the panel.cfg as instructed in the FSW WX Radar Installation.pdf. But I only have a black screen. I can survive with that, but it is a shame.
January 5, 201610 yr I strictly followed the instructions, And ... Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) ... Is not compatible, as the package required is VC++ redistributable 2013 x86 Roland MSFS my local airport release: LFOR Chartres-Metropole MSFS Plugins RAAS (registered FSUIPC7 required) MSFS FX for Objects & Landmark in France (Steam and smoke) and Aerial coverage for French nuclear sites
January 5, 201610 yr ... Is not compatible, as the package required is VC++ redistributable 2013 x86 Hi Roland, thanks for your attention. Actually the 2013 is the version I already had in place. When I tried to install the 2010 version, my system prompted me that a newer version was already installed. I can double check this out, but I am afraid the problem lies elsewhere.
January 5, 201610 yr my system prompted me that a newer version was already installed Strange, VC++ 2013 is not a newer version of VC++ 2010, it's a different set of DLL. You may need both for different software. Can you go there, download and install the "vcredist_x86.exe" package. If it still does not work, can you have a look here , Roland MSFS my local airport release: LFOR Chartres-Metropole MSFS Plugins RAAS (registered FSUIPC7 required) MSFS FX for Objects & Landmark in France (Steam and smoke) and Aerial coverage for French nuclear sites
January 23, 201610 yr Just wanted to say "Thanks Roland" for your free weather radar - which I managed to get working a treat in P3Dv2.5 in the MU-2. GA-Z87-D3HP, i5 4690K @4.40GHz, 8GB RAM @1600MHz, GPU GTX970 4GB, Win10 x64 Home Premium, Hiper M 880W PSU, 1X 250GB SSD (OS) 1X 500GB SSD (P3Dv3.4), 1X 250GB SSD (Games), 1X 500GB HDD
January 24, 201610 yr For the Lear, I found that the setup provided for Roland's ASN radar does not work properly. The issue is, that there is a 2D popup gauge, as well as a VC gauge, which does not work- as stated in Roland's documentation you can have either 2D or VC gauge, not both. Using it as is, only the 2D gauge will paint a realistic picture, while the VC gauge only gets more and more cyan. Here is what works for me (make sure to backup first): In the panel.cfg (MAIN for GTN, GNS if you use the GNS unit) -make window03=Weather Radar => /window03=Weather Radar (or delete this entry and renumber your windows) -delete or '//' the whole [window03] entry block -in the [VCockpit36] section make it look like this: [VCockpit36]size_mm=512,512pixel_size=512,512texture=$RDR150background_color=0,0,0gauge00=RolasnRadar!ORadGauge,85,40,335,265, sweep|beam|icing//gauge01=CONTROL_PANEL!clipboard RADAR, 90,50,330,250 You now have a working radar in the VC. The knobs are hidden inside the screen, refer to the manual to see which one does what.. but it's very easy to figure out. Happy flying! Regards. Matthias Hanel MilViz Beta Team
March 31, 201610 yr To those who run FSX with ASN and own the RXP WXR radar: Have you tried both the RXP and the Roland Herblot gauge? Which did you find more accurate in terms of weather depiction? Dave P. Woycek
March 31, 201610 yr Since I run FSX-SE, the Reality XP WXR was not an option for me. All RXP products only run under FSX classic. Roland's tool works fine and is free. It took me a little time to have it tailored to my VC windows, but Roland was also very supportive and wasted a lot time in PM to help me have everything properly working. In general, I would stay away from a developer who produced top class products in the past, but now is no longer offering support nor replying to emails. Go Roland and go free, the tool is more than you need for a simulation. My two cents.

I do currently use Rolands gauge because it appears to me that it might return a more accurate weather depiction using the ASN API (which is now even used by PMDG) than the RXP gauge which is quite old and does some magic weather depiction based on unknown principles. April 2, 201610 yr I just redownloaded P3D V3.2 But gauge is not working at all.... Any update about it? April 3, 201610 yr The gauge is working well with P3Dv3.2. You might look for another cause. June 26, 20169 yr You were right... BTW, with new FSW 2.5, i dont have the lines i should remove in order to use your radar gauge. I mean, looking inside Panel.cfg i dont have this lines exactly as they used to be before: Find this lines: gauge00=rxpWX500!RDR,0,0,512,380 gauge01=CONTROL_PANEL!clipboard RADAR, 90,50,330,250 and change to this: //gauge00=rxpWX500!RDR,0,0,512,380 gauge00=RolasnRadar!ShellRadGauge, 11,-8,491,500, sweep|beam|icing //gauge01=CONTROL_PANEL!clipboard RADAR, 90,50,330,250 Can you please share some new instructions to use your radar with the new update? (May be its about the MilViz radar update and FSW linkage) Thanks  Raphael Chacón FLYSIMWARE-SM#1378797 RXP750-#1533812 RXP530-#1526291 RXP430-#1543520 FS2C #43560 #52175 #68068 #68152 #69299 #71201 #72243 #105040 SM#1325481 PMDG #60260 #73469 #144746 #194702 #196953 #230831 #236231 #251801 #266742 #336381 #397556
