Realistic Sky Colors for X-Plane

Featured Replies

Hello my X-Plane friends  (best friends in the world)   :Big Grin:

I have installed my X-Plane again through Steam.  As much as i like P3D my heart is with X-Plane (this was my first love)

Here is the thing,  i hate the default sky color of the sim,  its so dull,  i feel like im constantly sitting in the shade.

Here are 2 payware programs that tackle sky colors,   which of these can you recommend,  are they worth it ?

Thank you

Skymaxx gets my vote too. Hopefully they will fix the high altitude dark sky that makes it look like you are in space.

Poppet, here is the free version by the same author (sky colours only, before it got bigger and went payware)...

You can also set SMP up with any 3rd party sky colours such as these (instructions in the SMP manual).

You may also look for the Tom Knudsen sky colors mods, those are really great too, sorry no links right now but I believe they are at the org.

I currently use SkyMaxx Pro for my clouds, but agree that Tom's sky colors are the most realistic that I have found.  Am thinking of trying Realistic HD Bitmaps for the sky colors.  If anyone has purchased it, I would also appreciate your thoughts on the sky colors.

So,should I wait for v.3?

Try the Medium Hazy Days. That's the one I use in SMP for all my shots. It puts a nice finish to the air...gives some perceived moisture to it.
