Removed 2 - 42" HDTV's For A Projector

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I just got done removing my two 42" HDTV's that I temporally took from our guest bedrooms. I ordered a projector (one of three eventually) and got it installed today. So far, I like what I'm seeing. Just a temp solution, still have three more computers to build before I order the 220* wrap around screen.

You have a amazing home cockpit!

I just went from a short throw projector to a 55" tv but only because I didnt like sitting in a dark room during the day time other wise projectors are fantastic

Nice, Mike!  I particulary like the "screen" hold down devices.

Hi Jim,

You know, It took three years... But I finally found a use for all the extra sprinkler head donuts I had laying around. I then had to use a hand steamer to remove all the wrinkles, worked out nicely.

Hi Zulfiqar,

Hi,

Not sure what projector you were using. In all my photos the lights are on in the room and you can clearly see the screen.

Hi,

Everything works just fine, I'm running P3D 2.5.

Hi,

The camera was deliberately put in the middle so the windscreen center post could block both TV Bezels, It worked out great. With the projector and wider screen I'll be able to move the camera back and capture more of the deck.

Since a couple of days  started trying the 737-800 in Xplane using the EADT model though only a 2d pit but I prefer it. Never ever flew a big bird so just looking for the POH. Maybe do some high level simming.

Your cockpit looks like the real thing. Excellent lighting.

How big would your pit be compared to the real one ?  Best thing no need for a head tracker or using the mouse to click the buttons or switches.

I am planning on using arduino boards later this year or next for comm / nav etc...

BenQ but it wouldn't matter. Projectors can only be 100% efficient in a pitch black room and any light source introduced after that starts to degrade the clarity/quality. I have floor to ceiling windows and I could still see the screen even in the midday sun but the sacrifice in clarity just wasn't worth it and I like to have a sunlit room :-)
