October 6, 201510 yr Well, now A2A are updating installers the question is where does it install them in V3 ? Not in the core folders, I hope !
October 6, 201510 yr Well, now A2A are updating installers the question is where does it install them in V3 ? Not in the core folders, I hope ! I think that all developers who are releasing updates right now and the coming week(s) will use the old way of doing things. The developers who want to install everything the new way need a lot more time to get this done. So you won't have to ask this yourself (and us) anymore the coming weeks. Obviously there isn't a lot of use in doing it the way LM said if 90% of the big 3dp developers are using the old method...
October 6, 201510 yr http://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=124&t=41279 (or am I late on this one?) gb. Thanks for the heads up. I looked into A2A last week so i could install the C182. A quick search in their forums gave me what I needed. This whole deal with LM's directory change is becoming a serious bone of contention. Yes, while it would be fabulous not having to reinstall content after a version change, I've been used to it for so long, it's become a ritual. As long as the content I have works in the sim I have, then great. Just my opinion. -jim Engage, research, inform and make your posts count! -Jim Morvay Origin EON-17SLX - Under the hood: Intel Core i7 7700K at 4.2GHz (Base) 4.6GHz (overclock), nVidia GeForce GTX-1080 Pascal w/8gb vram, 32gb (2x16) Crucial 2400mhz RAM, 3840 x 2160 17.3" IPS w/G-SYNC, Samsung 950 EVO 256GB PCIe m.2 SSD (Primary), Samsung 850 EVO 500gb M.2 (Sim Drive), MS Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit
October 6, 201510 yr Install procedure looks the same to me, they (A2A) did mention that the individual input configurations did not work quite right. I had installed a few with old installers checked folders then used the new installers. Nothing noteworthy different. (of course I am not a programmer). Both ways of installing gave working planes. I must say that I personally think that some of the attempts at keeping original folders "sterile" is a bit of over-think. Time will tell. October 6, 201510 yr Moderator It will take time. It sounds so simple, just change the install folders and presto! - done! in reality it is a lot more complex for the developers. I expect, over time, that we will see most complying with LM's recommendation. Meanwhile, I have some a/c installed outside and some inside the P3D core folders. October 6, 201510 yr Does anybody know if PCAviator has already uploaded the updated installers? Seems to me as if they are still the old ones. I bought the C172 and the Cherokee directly from A2A but the Comanche from PCAviator. Stupid mistake... In the future, only directly from A2A... October 6, 201510 yr Better call your lawyer! Haha. I thought that this issue had died a quiet death. It seems that no 3rd party app author is rushing out to comply with LM's guideline, which I should add was in place even prior to P3d V3. That's why My Traffic 6 complies with the guideline even though it was released well before P3d V3 was even in beta. I now have an almost complete set of add-ons for V3, just like the ones that I had for V2. The only exceptions are ORBX and the Flight1 GTN 750. Some authors created new installers with a V3 option. Others just suggested using the V2 installer.

The new recommendations sounds great, but I've been beaten so much by the number of times I've installed and reinstalled any version of Flight Simulator and Prepar3D that it's what I know. I can change. I know it! ...i can... Derek RogersPC Specs: Intel i7-4790K 4.6GHz : 16GB RAM : GTX 970 4GB
