P3Dv3 - VC Cockpit Stutter every 2 Sec..

Featured Replies

Most stutters which I had to fight with are induced by some kind of Vsync discrepancy. Alot of people are chasing a ghost, the problem is quite simple. 60 frames with 60 hz is smooth. 30 frames with 30hz is smooth. If you drop p below refresh rate of monitor, with Vsync on it will induce stutters. Also I am using Process Lasso, running about 60-65processes when p3d is running. For me it's the Holy grail like this, but it was a long way to achieve. McDan out

Also there is software that induce stutters, don't want to talk bad about products, but just as examples....

Aerosoft twin Otter's GPS, if it's running I get stutters.... Migration tool running fake fsx process gave me stutters.... Just in my case maybe, but I can reproduce those.

Believe me, I am obsessed with smoothness, nothing better then taxi with pmdg 777 on a high quality airport with no stutters. Not possible with every addon, but not related to FPS...

I'll share my "stutter" story. About a week ago I started to get both stutters in P3d and a single BSOD when my system first booted up each day. After a lot of testing and receiving help obtained

Yea i know whatchu mean...same exact thing with me

I get small pauses over complex airports.  But one major thing that fixed my issues was changing Affinity mask=0  Any setting for it caused major performance issues for me.  Can you post your prepar3d.cfg file in this thread?  Some people may see something there that may be causing problems.

What airplanes have you tried? Do they all stutter in VC view?

run MSCONFIG, disable all services except Microsoft ones, uncheck all unnecessary startup items, reboot and try that.

Problem Solved!!!

Watched Rob's and David McClean's vids over @ YT and decided to take the 4k plunge.

Upgraded to 4k monitor (Asus PB287Q) running @ 30hz.

Stutters completely vanished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4k 30hz is a must for P3D imho because of its fake fullscreen that's why i believe there will always be a stutterfest  even tho reaching good fps

Dario

Makes absolutely no sense but glad you got it sorted for your build.

It makes total sense... what are you not understanding?

What makes no sense is why LM seems dead-set against allowing P3D to run in full-screen to take advantage of 1/2 and 1/3 vertical sync modes.

Yeah, don't know why LM isn't for "real" fullscreen.

I can't believe the perf i'm getting now...Flytampa's CYYZ locked @ 30fps + 30hz= Unbelieveble smoothness

You said in your post that "4K@30Hz is a must for P3D" which is simply plain wrong. Neither 4K nor 30Hz is a must, that's ridiculous. Even this guy you mention, David McClean, only uses a 1080p monitor, already proving you wrong in regard to the 4K. If you were talking only about the refresh rate, well, then why not write it like this? It is rather the 30Hz that helps you to achieve stutter free gameplay, as it is a perfect match for a 30FPS cap setup (and as you said correctly, because P3D does not allow the 1/2 or 1/3 refresh rate vsync).

However, there is more than this. In my case for example, my G-sync capable monitor is working on a range from 30Hz to 144Hz, basically smoothing out everything inbetween. Now, surprise, surprise, if I set up my P3D in a way that I always have FPS between 35 and 60, I get guess what? Correct, stutter-free, super smooth gameplay. At a resolution of 1440p, with a 144Hz G-Sync Monitor. So? No 4K monitor, no 30Hz and yet still the same result? Strange, no?
