Is 116 better than 340 with several Fs addon programs running ?

 

With 340 I have them running at core 0,6 and 7 ( each one can use 3 cores )

Steve has explains you need to be using 4 not 3 or 5. Gerard.

I think these settings (AM=116 and the other way around for ANS and TrackIR) are a keeper. I already had nice performance but somehow the performance seems more constant and, this might be placebo, the texture loading seems to be ever so slightly better too: I notice this because I am flying the Legacy at high speeds and still the ground textures are being loaded at around the same time if not sooner than in the Comanche. I can remember that in the past textures had a hard time keeping up when flying fast planes. Again, might be placebo but I like it so I will keep it.  :wink:

 

Question: I added the Fligh1 GTN 750 to my collection (utterly awesome add-on btw) and the config utility of that one has an option to select the core to use: I can choose between all or a specific one. Anyone knows how to deal with this when I am using Steve/David's setup? Should I choose a specific core for the GTN or should I use Process Lasso (if possible: I don't even know if there is something being loaded in the background with this add-on)?

Hi David, see post 41 about what Steve wrote as advice on my situation and where putting my addon programs with AM=340 :

 

 

" all those extras can go on 3073=(11,00,00,00,00,01)=C01=0,10,11 "

 

 

Therefore I ended up putting all my addon programs to core  0, 7 and 8...

To my surprise when I booted up my personal account this morning and ran 'Prosess Lasso' the core graph was present, odd as i installed it on my main flight sim account. I'll try a reinstall. ( edit: I think its got to be installed on the full Admin account )

116 is for 4 core HT enabled systems Gerrard.

 

Guys remember that 4 cores and 6 cores require a different strategy.

This is expected, since jobs 3 and 4 are on separate cores collecting the data. Although job 2 shares a core with job 3, they don't max out together like jobs 3 and 4 will.

Let's look at the 6 core (putting values as Dec, Binary, Hex, LP). There are many possibilities, let's go with 340 as a good starting point. Remember the sim starts itself with an affinity mask, we are starting other apps by forcing their affinity which is subtly different, and a lot depends on whether the sim starts first or not.

 

4 cores to the sim and 2 cores to the addons:

P3D AM=340=(00,01,01,01,01,00)=154=2,4,6,8 <- sim

ASN AM=3073=(11,00,00,00,00,01)=C01=0,10,11 <- weather

Ext AM=3074=(11,00,00,00,00,10)=C02=1,10,11 <- other addons

 

4 cores to the sim and 3 cores to the addons:

P3D AM=1360=(01,01,01,01,00,00)=550=4,6,8,10 <- sim

ASN AM=205=(00,00,11,00,11,01)=CD=0,2,3,6,7 <- weather

Ext AM=206=(00,00,11,00,11,10)=CE=1,2,3,6,7 <- other addons

 

4 cores to the sim and 5 cores to the addons:

P3D AM=1360=(01,01,01,01,00,00)=550=4,6,8,10 <- sim

ASN AM=4045=(11,11,11,00,11,01)=FCD=0,2,3,6,7 <- weather

Ext AM=4046=(11,11,11,00,11,10)=FCE=1,2,3,6,7 <- other addons

 

As can be seen from unpeeling the logic, we don't mind allowing the background jobs to mix up, as this gives the jobscheduler more scope to find under utilised LPs. In order of priority we protect the main sim job 1, the two data jobs 3 and 4, finally the services job 2.

I do use Opus but not for weather, only to drive my buttkicker.

Beside Opus I have Prosim 737, Prosim MCP , Prosim Panel , SIOC and CPFlight software running.

All have to do with cockpit soft- and hardware.

 

So I have my current 340 / 3073 config.

Will compare it to 1360 / 205 and 1360 / 4045..,

Since you are going with 116, you are using a 4 core HT enabled?

 

You have P3D on AM=116=(01,11,01,00)=2,4,5,6 this hopefully will show a full bar on the graph of LP 2 (the third graph).

P3d on cores 2456

 

Seems to be running well

 

ASN on cores 0,1,3,7

 

My question relating to anything else running on cores 2456

Such as ai suite or malware bytes etc etc i see that are on cores 2456 ticked

 

Yes 3rd is showing high screen,not

Spike just high

Rest of the bars are low and even

Do I untick all of them being on those cores?

Ext 193=(11,00,00,01)=C1=0,6,7 <- extra addons

 

4 core HT enabled sim uses core zero, 4 cores 4 jobs:

P3D 85=(01,01,01,01)=55=0,2,4,6

ASN 248=(11,11,10,00)=F8=3,4,5,6

Ext 248=(11,11,10,00)=F8=3,4,5,6

I'm still a little confused...sorry!

 

So I tried the recommendations in this thread (4 core HT ON).

 

I put AM=116 into the Prepar3D.cfg

 

Does this mean I DO NOT need to untick any cores for P3D in Project Lasso?

 

How can I set an AM in ASN? Or do I just untick ASN cores to avoid using the P3D ones?
