FSLabs Concorde Released

Featured Replies

Richard,

This complete flight from JFK to Heathrow has over half a million views and is probably the definitive video of FS Labs Concorde-X.

In addition to that many of us in the beta team have this superb ITVV double DVD recorded back in 1998 of the outbound and return flights on which the FS Labs tutorial is based.

Whoa!

Thanks for the heads up! That seems to be a very good video. Man, I might end up getting this. I really like the old-school INS navigation. This is tempting.

devs are ex PMDG employees, that's why they charge 2x :Shame On You:

Don't take this the wrong way but it was funny that you don't need to charge more because Concorde is not flying anymore

If someone does something wrong in a real world A320, they can blame FSLabs because the P3D version will be a licensed training product. The A320 is still flying, so (even though it's beyond daft IMO), some lawyer could still come crawling out of the woodwork to hassle them. However, since Concorde is no longer in use, that "avenue of opportunity" is closed.

So FSX user can have this update for 4 Euro - am I correct ?

I was able to download 1.3 update without paying, strange  :Money Eyes:  and my original purchase was in 2012.

Richard,

I've been flying Concorde-X for around 18 months now that I have a PC capable of running it smoothly.

I still get that rush of adrenalin when I count 3 - 2 - 1 - NOW and slam the throttles forward to generate maximum engine power with reheat. No de-rated take-offs with this baby! B)

Reheats are switched on again at FL260 / 395kts / Mach 0.95. We're already going faster than Boeings and Airbuses and we've hardly started. :Big Grin:

8 minutes after you engage reheats and climb through FL260 you're flying at Mach 1.7 (twice as fast as those Boeings) and reheats are switched off. But Concorde has so much power it can still climb and accelerate without reheats. Even a Eurofighter can't do that! You reach Mach 2 at FL500 around 30-45 mins after departure depending on the airport.

At Mach 2 you're flying at 1,350mph - even faster with a tailwind. I clocked 1440mph returning from JFK a couple of weeks ago with a strong jet stream.

And then there's the descent starting around 200nm from your destination. The aircraft slows to 360kts IAS before starting a 2,000fpm descent which steepens to 4000fpm once Mach 1.5 is reached. At Mach 1 throttles are reduced to idle and the descent rate increases up to 7000fpm. And not a drop of champagne is spilt! This is nothing like how an Airbus or Boeing operates so it's a real buzz to be doing everything whilst travelling so fast.

The descent needs careful planning but I've just completed a flight from LPPD (Azores) to Lisbon and landed 1h 03m after take-off. Climbed up to FL580 and descended down to approach altitude and speed in that time. You don't get bored. Too much to monitor and check.

If you're bored of driving a Ford try a Formula 1 equivalent. :Big Grin:

Hi Rick,

Could I ask you to post on our support forum at FSLabs. We'll be able to offer more assistance there and get you running.

Thanks. Will do.

Try it again. I had this happen as well (on Steam) when I first installed and then I tried again and it loaded properly. Your startup procedure of starting with the Trike is correct although I have not moved it to another airport before loading Concorde.

Thanks, Mark. Will try again, as you have suggested.

Are you suggesting I uninstall/re-install again, in Steam? Or could it be that it installed under C:\Program Files(x86)\ when all my previous add-ons such as CaptSim, PMDG, Aerosoft, MilVix, etc have all been pointed to the FSX location, i.e. Steamapps\common\fsx

Christopher-

a small correction, although your post is mostly correct.

The initial P3D version will carry the same "entertainment" level license (as it will not be the full professional-grade version with all failures, instructor stations etc). *HOWEVER* the rest of what you say is true - lawyers *do* shoot out lawsuits left-right-and-center whenever possible and we would never be able to afford starting a defense process even with our EULA, since Prepar3D itself does NOT carry an entertainment-level license.

No just restart FSX-SE and try again.  If it still crashes then I would reinstall.

Done all that, including uninstalling, cleaning the Registry, re-booting, re-installing directly into the Steam directory, re-booting, firing up Steam whereupon I see the aircraft there with its choice of repaints, I then go through all the previous rigmarole of Default Trike, etc....................and it still hangs.

Don't quite know what else to do or try next.

I think you need to post in the FSLabs support forum.

I thought as much. The odd part is that when I fire up the desktop icon, Performance Calculator, it shows ' waiting for sim'  after I have fired up the Default Trike. The instant I click on the first Concorde aircraft, that changes to 'disconnected'.

Weird!

Sounds like there might be something missing in the dll.xml file.

Rick-

have you perhaps forgotten to actually install the CIVA gauges?

Also- you might want to install the SimConnect libraries as well.
