February 7, 201610 yr So true. Actually I had dynamic reflections on ultra all the time but didn't notice it since I thought it was greyed out as I had HDR turned off. Glad I found it quick enough to cancel my refund, I thought something with either my setup or the sim itself was wrong. Easy to miss such a thing with all these settings so great you found it and are now able to enjoy P3D in the way you were hoping for. But did you set these reflection settings to ultra yourself because I don't think they are set to ultra out of the box are they?

February 7, 201610 yr So much for "That GPU can't handle this resolution" Thanks for the suggestions nonetheless A few things I recommend when asking for help: 1. Don't jab at other members that are trying to help 2. Provide all the details of your 5 graphics options screens 3. Provide details of your hardware 4. Provide details of your add-ons used 5. Provide details of the specific location (if applicable) This approach (be it you or anyone) will have a much higher degree of rapid success in finding a compromise. For example, my highish end PC will get about: 15-19 FPS PMDG 777 Orbx PNW Orbx Vector ASN REX T2G KSEA These settings: http://www.robainscough.com/P3D_V3.html 30 FPS (Vsync locked) PMDG 777 No other add-ons The same settings as above. Graphics settings are only one small part of the performance equation. Cheers, Rob.
February 7, 201610 yr The biggest prblem i see in your setup is 1.) you compare P3D3 with FSX. Its not like that P3D3 has a different handling of effect, autogen and terrain to name a few. The reason why your 770 is almost @idle in FSX is that FSX does not make use of the GPU. P3D3 does big time as you can see it @ 100% Now the goal is to balance P3D3 for your hardware. You want to have about 50%CPU and 50-60%GPU usage. 2.) the resolution of your setup. The AA in P3D is not the best but setting up the sim for 1080p and nVidia inspector with 2xSGSS and 2MSAA in the sim that should give the best solution between AA and resolution and eye candy. Give that a go with only 1 monitor first. Before you start the sim make sure you delete the shader cache. Im pretty sure you will have a way better result in performance. If you satisfied try with 2 monitors and so on. You want to fly P3D dont think FSX, think P3D! Greetz MJ My youtube blog________________________Prepar3D v2.5/v3
February 8, 201610 yr I have been holding off posting since I too was struggling with the settings, and was not seeing anything near the smooth performance of FSX. Today, things got a lot better... Water on low, HDR and reflections off, Tesselation on Ultra High with fps locked at 27, no vsynch... and guess what, it actually is smooth and very flyable. [email protected], GTX770 and P3DV3.1. February 8, 201610 yr (P3D) 30 friggin fps, stutterfree at FT YSSY, something I could only dream of in FSX. Hmmm.. in your OP you said "did a small comparison with FSX as addons are the same. Loaded up the Q400 at YSSY in FSX, 26fps, smooth as a childs butt." ?? gb. YSSY. February 8, 201610 yr So yesterday I took the plunge and bought P3D v3 academic license in hope that it will run better and more stable than FSX DX10. How wrong I was. Basically everything below 30fps is unflyable, it stutters like hell and FPS are worse than FSX even at lower settings + FSX still looks a ton better with Reshade. I haven't tweaked my cfg so far, only tried affinitymask once and changed my settings hundreds of times without any noticeable difference. My PCs specs are: GTX770 4GB OC i7 4770k 4,3GHz 8GB RAM P3D installed on separate SSD Win10 64bit 3 monitors 5980 * 1080 So far I have ORBX FTX Global, ASN SP4, Rex 4 textures, EzDok, FlyTampa Sydney and Majestic Q400 installed and did a small comparison with FSX as addons are the same. Loaded up the Q400 at YSSY in FSX, 26fps, smooth as a childs butt. Same test in P3D, 20fps with stutters (28fps on 1 monitor, still unacceptable given the not so high settings). My P3D settings are quite moderate, shadows only for VC and clouds 10km, no tesselation, no traffic, scenery dense, buildings normal, no water reflections, no HDR. Yet the GPU is stressed at 100% but the CPU only 35%. I'm all in for a refund at the moment except someone could help me on this. P3D 3.1 runs far better and smoother then FSX. Something must be wrong somewhere. No wonder a 770 is trash, sold mine last week and got a 12GB Titan. Hardware must advance with software. You got left behind. Most folks are running 980s or thereabouts. This statement is more about bosting you have a 12GB Titan. I guess its kind of like small D syndrome. It might be an idea to first read the entire topic before posting because the OP already solved his problems with the change of ONE setting in the options screen of P3D... I mainly post this to prevent hundreds of people keeping this topic alive with irrelevant posts...

February 8, 201610 yr Author Hmmm.. in your OP you said "did a small comparison with FSX as addons are the same. Loaded up the Q400 at YSSY in FSX, 26fps, smooth as a childs butt." ?? gb. I was referring to the framerate alone which is now better in P3D than it ever was in FSX.
February 8, 201610 yr @OP:I run a GTX 760 on a i7-3820 (@4.2ghz) with reasonable settings (but still LOD to the max, water details on, Tesselation at max, etc) and I get a very smooth experience with 45fps unlocked at parking, 30fps locked stable most of the time, sometimes going to the 25ish FPS when flying thru dense clouds.Basically same add ons as yours (the usual asn pmdg rex blablabla list). The only difference with your setup is the resolution, i fly single monitor at 1920x1200, I guess your trouble is with the triple monitor setup.760/770 can perform rather well on a single screen, but on 3 screen, it's basically impossible. Try on a single screen first. If you still get very bad performance, the problem is elsewhere than your GPU power. -Jerome "In thrust we trust"

February 8, 201610 yr My goodness, do people ever READ a topic before posting something? Sort of  Anyways, glad that the OP found the problem and now he is a happy camper. That is all that counts  Greetz MJ My youtube blog________________________Prepar3D v2.5/v3
February 8, 201610 yr Moderator My goodness, do people ever READ a topic before posting something? I've noticed that many just read the title of the thread and chime in with a "me too!" Sure would save a lot of time if some would read through to see if their problem has already been answered. RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
