April 25, 201610 yr Posted Today, 02:08 AM Howdy Mostly when using BIG monitors or tv's for gaming, 4K resolutions make it possible. That's really it ! I have two Samsung 4k curves, 78" and 55". With over 30+ years simming I've tried just about every kind of setup. For me BIGGER is better ! Large 4k curved screen tv's are amazing !! Particularly when flight simming. I also might add, for me a significantly better experience @60hz Cheers 0 Selective Quote Quote I'm running a 48 samsung 4k and wanting to add a 65 4k for the front screen. I'm ordering the 737 from simworld so its going to be a beast How are you running two 4ks? Vernon Howells
April 27, 201610 yr How are you running two 4ks? I don't run both. I've simultaneously run the 78" and 28" as multi-screen but it does lower frames. So I prefer the Samsung 78" curve as my primary with a networked MS Surface Pro. Cheers
April 27, 201610 yr You think if i SLI two 980ti's with one 65 and one 48 will have reasonable frames? Vernon Howells
April 28, 201610 yr You think if i SLI two 980ti's with one 65 and one 48 will have reasonable frames? Two 980 ti's has got to be really nice! :-) but I couldn't say whether this would work for you. I'm running 6700k @ 4.8 and two GTX 970's oc's and found 2x 4k displays to be too much in P3D 3.0 with the usual addons. P3D on one display with like a video running from pc to 2nd display was reasonable, but P3D with a second window open was too big a fps hit. Cheers

April 28, 201610 yr You think if i SLI two 980ti's with one 65 and one 48 will have reasonable frames? I run two overclocked and water-cooled 980Tis and can keep things smooth at 30 fps in P3D3 (using DX11) driving a single 4K monitor most of the time...I really doubt you'd be able to drive two 4K monitors at a reasonable refresh rate unless your scenery, weather, and aircraft addons are very limited. April 28, 201610 yr I'm hoping the new "Pascal" cards coming from Nvidia can handle 4K in single card configuration with acceptable performance; I've never been a huge fan of SLI, but it's been necessary to power 4K so far. I'm running a Philips 40" 4K monitor on my Obutto cockpit. Simply couldn't go back to anything smaller or lower resolution after using large 4K for simming. I'm holding out until Euro 2016 starts this summer to invest in a larger and probably curved 4K TV for my Obutto sim cockpit, there are usually good deals on TV's when there is a large football (soccer) tournament on. I'm running a curved Samsung 4K 48" with acceptable performance using a single 980 Ti card and that is with PMDG's NGX and all the FTX Global addons plus payware airports and HiFi weather doing all my flying online on Vatsim. I rarely see FPS drop below 30 FPS and most of the times it stays between 40-60 FPS inside the v/c. Not sure what you consider acceptable performance?

April 28, 201610 yr I am holding off in the expectation that with a 64-bit P3D, there will be a whole new setup game, with new settings required for the displays. When that will be is anyone's guess! Am I right? I don't use any AA and yet I'm happy with both the IQ as well as the performance. My comment was really meant for Gordon saying an SLI setup is required for 4K which is not true.

April 28, 201610 yr No AA? How far away do you sit from the screen? Sorry, that wasn't totally true...I'm running 4xMSAA. I was thinking about "external" AA methods such as SGSS via NCP. I'm about 1 meter away from my screen.
April 28, 201610 yr Sorry, that wasn't totally true... I thought so. Your requirement for AA will be about the same as a 24" 1080p monitor. MarkH https://www.youtube.com/@AlmostAviation AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D / 64Gb DDR5 / Zotac RTX 5070 Ti / 2560 x 1440 display
