January 15, 20179 yr I'm using a 4K monitor. I have a Sony 4K tv and tried that but it was just too big! Mine is a fairly inexpensive AOC U2879VF, 28 inch. £274 from Amazon currently which is a darn sight less than my previous Iiyama 27 inch IPS... How do you like this monitor? I am thinking about to buy it. Thanks José Fco. January 15, 20179 yr Are there any former 3-monitor folks here that have converted to large single monitor? I've considered transitioning from 3x21 to the Dell or LG Ultrawidescreen 34. However, each time, I've chickened out. The main bummer are the bezels but the plus is I don't think I could live without the extra peripheral view. At present, I operate flawlessly with a GTX 680 card.

If you get a decent-sized 4K monitor it will be wider than any 'ultrawide' (a.k.a. 21:9 aspect ratio) monitor you can buy. January 15, 20179 yr Wide (physical size) is one thing, Field of View is another. You may want to show some separate view windows so you can see sideways. Flying always requires looking sideways to see points of interest and the runway unless it is a straight in approach. That is why some folks like three monitors - but you could recreate that on large 4K TV. January 15, 20179 yr I am also wondering about field of view with a 4k monitor. All the discussions I have read about 4k monitors is about clarity but I have not seen any one mention field of view, which is the main reason I use 3 monitors. Using 3 monitors gives me 3 times the horizontal view area of one monitor which really minimizes the horizontal scrolling during flight. I have three 1280 x 1024 monitors giving me an effective resolution of 3840 x 1024. My main interest in getting a 4k monitor is to obtain more vertical field of view so I can see the entire panel and outside view without scrolling. Will a 4k monitor give me this or will it just put me back into my original small single monitor view with increased resolution and clarity? January 15, 20179 yr Commercial Member Ted That's exactly what I did. I went from 3 screens to a 4K tv so I have more vertical field of view aswell. Imagine putting another 3 screens above what you have and that is the view you will get. January 15, 20179 yr Thanks tutmeister. That is great news. More field of view and no bezels! Ted [email protected] ghz, Noctua C12P CPU air cooler, Asus Z77, 2 x 4gb DDR3 Corsair 2200 mhz cl 9, EVGA 1080ti, Sony 55" 900E TV 3840 x 2160, Windows 7-64, FSX, P3dv3, P3dv4

It is a different shape to your three-monitor setup so it could not possibly give you the same picture. The picture displayed depends entirely on how you set it up (the zoom factor you choose, essentially). January 15, 20179 yr Mark, I realize the shape (aspect) will be different than my 3 monitor setup. I just wanted to make sure that a 4k monitor would not just take my original single monitor view and put it on a larger screen. As tutmeister said, I'm really seeking the same view as adding an additional row of 3 monitors below my existing setup and removing the bezels. I just need to go pull the trigger and buy one now. June 30, 20178 yr Just having a 4k monitor is not enough, you should still find some 4k sources. In websites like YouTube, Metacafe(http://www.metacafe.com/categories/science_and_tech/) and Daily Motion (http://www.dailymotion.com/us). Different to last year, you can download many movies of 4k for free now if you go to those websites (http://www.videoconverterfactory.com/tips/wr-to-dld-4k-mvs.html)
