  • Seriously? The point of Early Access is so people that are passionate about a particular title can participate in its development. You should be giving feedback to the developers about the issues you

  • I disagree - Aerofly is trying to have it both ways by putting forth a very incomplete product and utilizing Early Access....but then wanting to charge a rather high price for it also.   $50 is pret

  • Just been playing around with this a bit yesterday and today. There's definitely potential, although at the current time, the majority of simmers will probably find it too bare bones.   Graphics /

I'll do. Do you have it?

 Nope...

I keep installing and uninstalling sims because my SSD is just 250 GB.

Right now I am re-installing FSX : SE, and also have DTG FSchool....

Steam clearly states that for titles bought in pre-release one could at any given moment ask for a full refund for as long as the title is not officially released.

I see no problems in that....

Actually, I don't think that is accurate.  Pre-order on Steam is before the game is available to play at all, in either release version or early access.  This one is now released and avaiable to download/play, so once you play more than two hours you can no longer get a refund.  Early Access is just to let buyers know the developer says game isn't "done" yet, but available to those interested and want to be a part of finishing it up.  They aren't going to let you play it for months and months and then give you a refund.

An example, DTG Flight School was in "Pre-order" status for a month (you could buy it but not play it), but not released.  At any time you could get a full refund.  Now however, it is released, so the 2 hour play time limit applies.

Ok downloaded and installed.

Before testing, I need to change some default control settings and making them more FSX-alike (after years of FSX it takes time to get the grips with a different simulator).

One question: I can't see any option for the mixture control. Can someone please confirm it is not modeled?

AFAIK, just like in V1, it is not modeled - someone confirmed that to me at another thread....

Same for even being able to start / shutdown the engines....

I was even wondering if asymmetric thrust operation of the multi-engine aircraft was possible, but someone confirmed it is, so at least in prop CS aircraft one can control throttle and prop RPM....

I guess that's those other poster's concerns.

If you are on V2, selling a product yet again, but still haven't even modeled mixture controls, what exactly is your time line? And what exactly were you doing between V1 and V2 except uploading different photo scenery and some new planes?

That's only a question to people who weren't paying attention. For one, they completely redid their original coordinate system from essentially flat-gamelike to a complete 3d earth, not a small task for a tiny company. At the same time, they were adding the capability for the systems and displays that were needed to please simmers, such as clickable cockpits, and the back end to support same; also not an easy task.

Not to mention covering the entire Earth in photo-scenery, low resolution or not: A nearly unprecedented task.

In between, they were releasing their tablet version and gathering the money to continue with the Pc version. This also included creating all those art assets (cities) now seen in the game, creating the suitable scenery etc, refining the engine.....

Frankly I'm startled they managed to scrape up the cash and technical manpower, and they get awesome amounts of credit for succeeding at being the little engine that could.

I suspect they are in need of a serious cash infusion to continue, and hence the $50 early access.

Thanks for the information. Not a good news, though.

I guess they've got some kind of autogen process going on for trees in those shots.

But man is the resolution terrible in some spots.

The mesh looks very detailed though.

I wouldn't say terrible, but certainly it is well flat just outside any downtown area. Yes, i concur that terrain quality is quite different depending on where you're flying over. Mesh are superb and ultra-defined, though.

The positive side is that I could not feel any performance drop in areas with lot of autogen compared to the others. Something we all know very well from out FSX/P3D background, especially on final.

The resolution of some of those ground textures is WAY too low (assuming that the screenshots were not taken before the higher resolution tiles had loaded). I am well aware that higher resolution images require a lot more storage space, but I am afraid that blurry textures like that would make it a non starter for me.....and that would be a shame.

As usual, savvy words based on solid information from you.

That said, I confess that I was pretty shocked when I first launched the simulator, loaded the Baron and discovered that the mixture lever was inoperative nor an appropriate command is available (which was later confirmed here by other users). In my opinion, if you choose to include a piston light twin in your hangar, I expect that mixture control is modeled.  I can easily survive without autopilot (I use it only in extreme circumstances even in FSX-SE, as I am currently mostly flying GA and some turboprops and my greatest pleasure is perfoming short-medium flights entirely in manual), but I can hardly fly a Baron without mixture control.

On the other side, you are probably right. They needed cash to bring their development further, so they had to include more "appealing" models and features to reach a bigger market. For many first time or causal users, landing a Boeing with autopilot is probably much more appealing than leaning.

While I may understand their motives and do not regret the purchase, I find the idea of releasing a twin piston aircraft without mixture modeled definitely questionable. Yes, i know it's early access, but this is no secondary feature nor any eye-candy, it is a basic feature.

With regard to this, does anybody know what are the capabilities of the engine with regard to round earth and high altitudes? Is it possible to do uninterrupted transcontinental flight? Does it provide a realistic depiction of earth at very high altitudes?
