June 21, 20169 yr BTW Devon, there's a Baron 58 coming for MS FLIGHT ported from MSFS ! So I heard. The community is full of incorrigible tinkerers! We are all connected..... June 21, 20169 yr Pardon me but it sounds like you haven't a clue what IPACS are up to... V2 is intended to be an open sim which is why it is featuring a protracted early access phase so that IPACS team can build the new systems required which were missing from the first simulator. The fact that IPACS are promising to deliver an SDK, on top of global elevation and satellite imagery should tell you something about there amibition. Right now the simulator is far from finished it's true which is why it's in early access, but to dismiss this as being nothing more than the first simulation isn't at all fair. I drank the Kool-Aid with the first one, promised updates and addons etc, and then they completely abandoned it. Best I can tell went and did other mobile versions. Now they are back, wanting the full price again, promising the moon, with an "full" release date later this year. They are months away from a full release and coming out of early access and I still can't even turn the dang engine off lol? Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.... Sure ok I get it. It may seem like moving from "potential" to "believable" (for some) is a way off. I guess if you can see yourself enjoying what is currently on offer that could sweeten the deal given the hefty price tag, I was a fan of Flight Unlimited so it's got my attention - however Flight Unlimited seems to be a far more complete game than the current offering of Areofly FS 2 EA edition. I can't promise this will be the next big thing or another unforfilled venture, so I guess you pays your money and makes your choices and which every choice you make that fair enough with me. Before you give up completely though I would checkout the interview with Torsten Hans who talks about Aerofly FS future development. https://www.helisimmer.com/interview/interview-aerofly-fs2-developer-tosten-hans/

I guess I'm less skeptical, since I've been following Ipacs forums for quite some time, and was aware of the coordinate change and other things they had to do to make the round earth of Aerofly FS2 possible. This was a necessary step to open the way for contiguous world coverage and deeper systems, and I think they have a very good base to work from this time. Time will tell! We are all connected..... June 22, 20169 yr I'm now really really really tempted... bummer!!!! Meanwhile I keep DCS for flight dynamics fidelity, even if I don't like Air Combat, but it is the only way of having credible helicopter, and ww2 powerful prop aircraft flight dynamics ( well, for that, ww2, also il-2 BoS / BoM are extraordinary ! just as for ww1 Rise of Flight is... ) But the chance to have a fully featured civil sim like Aerofly FS2 appears to have the potential to become, starting from a sound flight dynamics base, is really a very tempting idea! June 22, 20169 yr The plausible flight dynamics are the strongest component of any sim to me. There being gliders to play with is another plus.... Then, there's the weather effects, wind variation and turbulence, which I found already very well done in the first version too. A final interesting thought is that of being able to use it as a visuals generator for Aerowinx PSX, when the SDK becomes available. Maybe someone considers developing connector, even if just to fly around in the area presently covered by detailed scenery. PSX is sooooo expensive and only is 2D with no good scenery, why? why did dev not also add scenery?
June 22, 20169 yr Hardy is a perfectionist. In order to create scenery, he would have to create features that would not allow for PSX to be released in this 21th century :-) He also knew external visual generators ( fsx, p3d or xpx ) can e used. Aerofly v2 would be a great alternative too... But, some features I agree should have been implemented, like proper runway lighting systems for each runway. Well having just got Aerofly FS1 in the bargain bin, I am looking at getting FS2. The pricetag isn't that hefty considering the number of really good planes and scenery you get in both versions. Of course there is no systems management but the flying experience is very immersive. Just assume that you are on top of the plane and enjoy the feeling! July 4, 20169 yr Well having just got Aerofly FS1 in the bargain bin, I am looking at getting FS2. The pricetag isn't that hefty considering the number of really good planes and scenery you get in both versions. Of course there is no systems management but the flying experience is very immersive. Just assume that you are on top of the plane and enjoy the feeling! I did a little sightseeing today. 1st I downloaded and set up Mr-x's beautiful KSFO airport for X-plane and flew around. Very impressive! (I thought) and a great showcase of X-planes capabilities. I had flown from Aerofly Fs 2's version of the same airport, but with no comparison in mind, all I really thought was that it was also very impressive and pretty. But! Going back and forth between them in the space of just a few minutes was very much an eye opener. I'll leave it up to each individual to try the experiment and come to their own conclusions, not necessarily about the two airport versions, because both are brilliant, but about the general VFR ambiance. Its an experiment worth doing, and do me, it says that Aerofly FS 2 definitely has something to offer. How much it can offer will depend on the developers and what course they finally follow, but the time for this community to weigh in is certainly now!! We are all connected..... July 5, 20169 yr I did a VFR flight from Flagstaff to Phoenix in the C172 and really enjoyed it. I actually liked the feeling of flight it gave me more than XPlane and P3D. The flight model felt pretty good and the view distance is incredible in this sim. If they add more high resolution photoscenery, system functionality, and full night lighting they will have a pretty decent sim. July 5, 20169 yr I tinkered a bit more with version 1, I do see some potential, but I just bore so quickly and the v1 lost hope set in again... I feel like I'm flying a very limited area Google Earth map in a browser. I hope they get where you guys are preaching, I just don't see it happening anytime in the next few years, assuming they stick around this time and don't bail for the quick smartphone app money again. I have since uninstalled again and doubt I'll ever bother again. I will however keep an occasional eye on development in case they surprise us at some point. Take care all, and best wishes to development. Allen, flight sim lover and AA-5 Traveler owner
July 6, 20169 yr I believe there are quite some tempting improvements with V2, and also a different type of commitment to keep developing for this platform... Aerofly FS is a project managed by a small team, so, there needs to be support from users too. The more users, the more funds they get allowing to expand the offer. I'm on it - starting today ! July 14, 20169 yr DLC released today, it's the Aerofly 1 map i think. Early Access DLC :Shame On You: this sim will probably fail like MS Flight
