Alabeo PA-44 Seminole released!

Let me just add again, that this is one of my all-time favorite airplanes in FSX!

I'm with you on that Bert.  Certainly Alabeo's best release to date.   The hand flying characteristics are immensely enjoyable and good fun, and (oddly, for a alabeo/carenado release), the engine sounds are divine.  ..... the oscillation of the engines at "full pelt" until you pull back the MP and RPMs. B)

This is no slur on A2A (for obvious reasons, and because I'm a huge fan of them), but I've been flying this Seminole a lot, so took the A2A Cherokee for a spin yesterday - have to admit I got bored quickly and was back up in the Seminole in no time.

My single only gripe is that I feel I am sitting low in the VC, and the panel is blocking a lot of the forward view.  I've therefore adjusted by eyepoint a touch in the [eyepoint] entry.

Thanks

I have been very critical of both Carenado and Alabeo products over the years. Because of Bert's comments I decided to hit the purchase button again on the PA-44 and I am glad I did. Thanks Bert!! :good: It has become my go to plane and I just love hand flying it. My personal 5  :Cow: award!!

Just like in the real plane, you have to adjust the seating position to your liking.

Some pilots carry a pillow to sit on..  (used to be a parachute, but no longer..)

Absolutely.  I'm 6'4" but sadly, that's not reflected in the sim lol!   I adjusted the vertical eyepoint position 1.66, and the view is perfect now.   I'm calling it the "cushion mod"

Hi Folks,

Wow - all this positive feedback - I'll have to take a gander... The Milviz C310 has been my "go to" light twin for quite some time...

How about a Duchess - Alebeo ???

Hi Erich,

A few posts back mentioned how uncharacteristically "great" the included sound package was - might not need a replacement...

While I suppose that any add-on can be enhanced by a custom HD sound package, I find little to complain about with the Seminole's native sounds. The engines have a satisfying "presence", and sound very realistic at takeoff power.

The fuel pumps sound better than the typical FSX/P3D fuel pump sound, though still a bit too loud. Gear retraction and extension also sounds very good.

skysongsoundworks offers a nice soundset to compliment just the Alabeo Seminole. I use it with pleasure, I think it`s a bit more authentic than the original.

I might buy this.  Has anyone come up with a replacement sound package?

I tend to buy add-on sound packs for most GA aircraft, where they're available and from a reputable sound modeller......but honestly, this one, I wouldn't .   The engine sounds are fantastic, as are the other sounds, although I do agree Jim that the fuel pump sound is too loud.   That's easily corrected though.

Thanks Scott.

Unfortuntely I have heard gushing about sound packs before only to find that it was nothing like the real thing. I find that things tend to 'go wrong' at both the lower and high end of the power range with Caranado/Alabeo. Not enough audible change when moving through the lower part of the power range and not sounding powerful enough at the top end, with no audible differences with changing pitch.

I have not flown in a Seminole myself but the sound dynamics should be similar to others.

I'll get it anyway, but it's badly engineered soundpacks that usually lead to me shelving the aircraft entirely. When you drive a Ferrari, you don't want it sounding like a Toyota. Sound is massively important in a piston twin.

Great to hear. (no pun intended).  Even the aftermarket sounds leave ALOT to be desired.

Hi Erich,

Understand - if you find a set you like - I'd like to hear about it...

I've got time in a Duchess - same engines I think...

Bearing in mind I havent yet heard the soundpack that comes with the aircraft, for me, the absolute best twin engine Lycoming sounds are by Gary Jones. I think this is a 360hp variant recording - while the Seminole has a 180hp and so will sound a bit over the top. I have used this package in the Navajo and for almost all continental twin aircraft produced by Caranado during the FSX reign.
