July 16, 20169 yr On a less serious note, I thought you might enjoy these Alaska Airlines ads from the 80s...

July 16, 20169 yr Priceless! Living back east during the 80's I wouldn't have seen that one. I laughed my head off! Thanks for sharing Stephen. \Robert Hamlich/
July 17, 20169 yr Great vid. Lol Captain to First Officer: " I didn't say it was your fault I am just blaming you "
July 17, 20169 yr Ha! Great video! Like Robert, I would have seen some of those commercials, as I was in my 20s in the 80s. Interestingly, the aviation travel experience today is not so different from what was jokingly envisioned in the commercials--although no pay toilets yet. :-) Joel Murray @ CYVR (actually, somewhere about halfway between CYNJ and CZBB)
July 17, 20169 yr Moderator Even though I predate dirt itself, I've never seen any of this montage of ads before. Thanks for the chuckle! Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
July 17, 20169 yr Not living in the USA never got to see that ad. What a corker. My sides have not stopped splittin'!!! Great post,Stephen. Rick Almeida
July 18, 20169 yr I did fly with them in 1987 from Seattle to Portland. They were and still are awesome. I've never seen these ads either Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
July 20, 20169 yr Author I still have enough teenager in me to laugh at humour centered around necessary body functions. Not having correct change for the coin operated toilets is priceless. Then there is the guy stuck in security (Think ocean liner horn alarm). Perhaps the prize in this collection belongs to the man in the washroom who had an accident with the water taps spraying his pants, and the next second being commanded to return to his seat. Every man's worse fear! Then there are the small skinny passengers eating tiny box snacks vs heavy super-weight airline owners engorging lobsters, shrimp and cake is classic.... "I Like it!" Someone deserves at least an honourable mention at the Oscars, (or at least the simulated version), even if 30 years too late. It is hilarity and side-splitting slapstick at it's very best. It makes me wiggle with delight like the poor guy dancing the jig at the end. Those who wrote, directed and acted upon and in these ads are very, very, very smart (In honor of American politics). Kind regards,
