August 6, 20169 yr Did you figure it out or just quit trying? I had update problems, but I had renamed the internal X-Plane.exe folder to X-Plane beta and when it updated, it made a new X-Plane folder and it wouldn't start. Stupid mistake after all these years... John I have tried...and tried...this new system is totally screwed up... After ten tries...just gave up. I keep getting the server is not responding normally, will try again in 20 seconds...and this #**#@ message just keeps repeating, with nothing from their severs getting downloaded. I had a beta copy, that I used for testing...and the CD ROM downloader totally BORKED the installation. I had to delete it. I'm going back to .45 and be done with it. Post Edit: It took 20 seconds to download .45 and install. Back to it...and it looks great.

August 6, 20169 yr Just updated. The water reflection mis-alignment that I reported perhaps 2-3 years ago is finally fixed. No more ships that look like they're hovering over the water, or reflections of land that are offset by half a mile etc. -
August 6, 20169 yr Still not on Steam. Hope I get to try this out this weekend! Me too. I've been waiting for 10.50 to officially drop on Steam before getting back into XP again.
August 6, 20169 yr Get a new installer from the devs here http://www.x-plane.com/downloads/x-plane_10_installer-updater/ This stand-alone installer had me up and running with 10:50r1 in about 5 minutes. It seems you can't use the installer from off of the disc set...at least I could no longer.

It's been announced long ago that the installer on the disc is outdated and can't be used to update nowadays. - Currently giving X-Plane 12.10 a spin on Shadow PC. 10 years with X-Plane now, since 10.20

August 6, 20169 yr Commercial Member I've been eager to try it out (also a Steam user), but also more eager to update my 50+ Gateway airports. Since I've read that the new WED isn't really ready for primetime yet, and that they'll be doing a 10.51 just for airports, I'm not in as much of a rush. Jim Stewart Milviz Person.

August 6, 20169 yr It's been announced long ago that the installer on the disc is outdated and can't be used to update nowadays. I must have missed that...but glad an updated installer link was posted to this thread. As stated, took less than 5 minutes...
