December 4, 20169 yr The big difference is also in the way X-Enviro covers a much larger area around the present aircraft position, allowing for smooth and sound transitions. December 4, 20169 yr Lets wait for SMPv4 and see the reviews on it though personally will upgrade to v4 because i have v3 already but i want to share one screenshot for x-enviro at 36,000 feet above NYCI unticked light scattering in x-enviro settings and i changed manually in data ref editor the value of the following line to 20 "atmo/inscatter_gain_raleigh=20", x-enviro light scattering was setting it to 2, This gave me the blue haze. I will ask x-enviro if they can give us a slider for this value. http://www.xsquawkbox.net/xpsdk/mediawiki/DataRefEditor img hosting Uuuuh yeah! That sir, is an amazing shot! Absolutely brilliant! Which scenery is this?
December 4, 20169 yr Hi Roland, I understand your "pain"... As a DCS World user, I buy their ultra sophisticated ww2 and helicopter modules and sometimes wait more than a year for the final release, but they're still pretty much high standards from the early release! Same applies to Aerofly FS 2, IL2 Battle of Stalingrad and probably many other sims... I guess it has to do with the user base, and the required investment. But heck, even PMDG fails! See what happened to their 777, and I have reported some months ago a bug in the display of the speed tape, before first flap retraction, and it was never updated, and probably will not be... And, AFAIK, X-Enviro is already very usable! Quick question...the DCS world shows the Nevada packet as "pre-order". Is that pack available now for use with DCS. I'd like to fly around that area in the F-86, but only if it's not "Beta". The DCS world seems so much better than when I tried it a few years back! Thanks Bill

Thanks Bill It's still beta, and the engine is gradually being updated to a 2.5 combination of DCS 2 and DCs 1.5, but even in beta stage it's amazing and well worth the money. December 5, 20169 yr So I Finally Pick it up last night. After a day testing and analyzing I came to the conclusion; Personally by far, one of the best XP plugin I've bought that single handed revolutionizes my in-flight sim experience. As with every product; now one product is ever perfect out the door, the good thing with this is, it leaves room for fabulous growth. They're things that was done correct and things that needs adding or fine tuning, ( I'm sure the developers have a To Add List) this plugin will only improve going forward. The developers have heard and answered the cries of the XP community with the need for a better weather engine, I think they have produce a fantastic product working within the confines of XP. My 2cent; a very very good first impression, thank you to the developers at xEnviro, and welcome. Alan Twiggys AOPA Member "All Things Aviation"

And although it still needs some tweaking I'm enjoying it much more then the "cotton ball' clouds look of SMPv3. Just the fact that the weather extends all the way to the horizon and that it produces a great mix of cloud types looks much more appealing to me. For a Version 1 I see it only getting better! i9-13900K @ 5.8Ghz / Asus TUF 4090 OC / 32 GB DDR 5 / Corsair 1000W PS / Pimax Crystal / 2 SATA SSD / 2TB M2 SSD/ DOF Reality H3 motion platform/ Win 11

Yeah, it's definitely not a finished product but so far I'm quite happy with the way it looks compared to what I see out of the window when I fly. Looking forward to the improvements they make over the product's lifetime. God knows we've paid enough for them.... Looking at the preview shots for SMP4 it doesn't look like a huge improvement over 3, rather than the cotton balls seem to have had a facelift to make them look more dramatic. I've had every version so far but always deleted after a couple of months because, amazing though it looks in screenshots (and it really does look drop-dead gorgeous at times), the clouds seldom really reflected what I see in real life. More like an idealised version of what we would prefer clouds to look like. In fact in some ways they remind me of the types of cloud I see in renaissance paintings: i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea
December 5, 20169 yr So far everything i've seen online i've liked (even the videos that showed it's negative aspects). What i like is the look of the weather systems and mainly the fact that it covers a large area so there is no harsh transitions which i absolutely can't handle and is the main reason i go back to p3d/active sky over xp10. The only thing that i am concerned about is that there are some videos where it shows that there appears to be a lack of wind interaction with the airplane. no turbulance in stormy weather... Can anybody confirm if there is an issue with the wind and turbulance in xenviro?

December 5, 20169 yr Unfortunately I'm not sure they're a product of xEnviro, at least I don't get any on my aircraft in XP11. Are they not just a feature of the crj2? i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea
