December 20, 20169 yr Author Yes, I have this issue also ... tried calibration multiple times and adjusting sensitivity, but seems to be issue primarily with C172. I can sit on a taxiway and do nothing (throttle min) with parking brake on and the default C172 will just slowly rotate around 360 indefinitely. It's almost as if the engine is generating 1000X more torque than it really does -- I have flown real world 172 and takeoff in light to moderate crosswinds doesn't require full rudder so I'm assuming this is just a bug in the default 172 flight model. Sky banding issue still present. Shadows still very blocky. Not seeing any cloud shadows. Water/waves seems unchanged, still flat with strange surface reflection. Per Rich's comment, save your control settings prior to update or else they will get wiped out. Can't complain, still Beta and they did address a long list of issues ... hopefully they'll get to these other issues before it's deemed "ready". Cheers, Rob. Thanks Rob - not the info I wanted to hear - next time maybe Rich Sennett
December 20, 20169 yr While taxing on the ground? Yes Hmm i flown 172 from C to S. Can't remember anything like that. Something wrong with your break drums ? December 20, 20169 yr If I want to be critical I must wonder why LR doesn't acknowledge that sort of bug and at least tries to fix it. I mean, a 50kts wind at 40000 ft which kicks around a plane on the ground, pardon me? On the other hand, just don't set this kind of weather or live with XE's smoothing and all is fine. Like other things which didn't get addressed for years this is what we have and the progress from XP10 to XP11 is visible in other areas. There is no such thing as a truly realistic and convincing flight simulator for desktop users, the closest we can think of would be combined forces of LM and LR eliminating the weaknesses of the respective other, which of course is not going to happen ever. Maybe it's time to remember that, despite all manufacturers' claims, these are only games at the end of the day. Hans

December 20, 20169 yr On another note, it seems to me that the GPU load in a given scene has increased while the memory load has decreased in beta 3. Anyone noticing this as well? Hans
December 20, 20169 yr Still same bugs I reported in PB2 - no setup pictures for Saitek Pro Flight Combat pedals or X-55 Rhino throttle - still no setup for right tophat switch on CH Eclipse yoke - two other missing buttons on CH Eclipse yoke I only mention this as I thought I read in their list that they had fixed the tophat thing. XEnviro's smoothing won't help when the actual METAR it's using shows high winds at ground level, like we get up here in the PNW this time of year. Today's civilian NWS report at ground level: * WINDS...WEST WINDS 25 TO 40 MPH WITH LOCAL GUSTS 50 TO 60 MPH. STRONGEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO BE ALONG THE SHORELINES CLOSE TO THE STRAIT OF JUAN DE FUCA. That's why some of us keep harping about XEnviro lacking manual adjustment. At least with SkyMaxx Pro v4 + RWC I can load the current weather and back down the winds. December 20, 20169 yr No weathervane get for me either. PFC rudder pedals and X-Enviro. I'll try without X Enviro tomorrow and crank up the wind and see what happens. December 20, 20169 yr IRL, at least where I usually fly from, if your Cessna weathervanes in the parking lot as you release brakes, for sure you will cancel your intentions to go flying. For students, a x-wind component of 8 knot - 8 knot component from 90º port or starboard, is the limit for a 172 there... Yet, taxiing with a 8 knot wind will for sure not weathercock your 172 on the taxiway, even if yes, you may feel some need to input a bit of rudder / aileron for good taxing practices under wind.... I'm doing an analysis using cycle dumps to get to the root of the problem. Surprising results, there is the possibility that the tire model is correct and that the problem is in how the X-Plane C172 has been designed. Stand by for results. December 20, 20169 yr I started off from Sekiu and turned west. Winds were given at between 34 and 41 kts. Still a big difference between XEnviro and SMP/RWC. With XEnviro the flight was manageable, with SMP/RWC the little 172 was shaken a lot more. Also, cloudiness and precipitation were very different. Looking at the current radar and satellite I think XEnviro was once more closer to real conditions, not that many clouds and no rain around the airport. Guess only someone who goes up there now IRL with a 172 and has a brave copilot filming can show us the real deal. I'm doing an analysis using cycle dumps to get to the root of the problem. It did weathervane here, badly, but only with the manual wind setting. Hans
