Hello,

I've been looking at Orbx products for quite some time now but I'm still not sure if they're worth it. Now would be a good time to buy some products from them but I first wanted to know if it affects the performance of the simulator? I'm using FSX: SE.

The products I would purchase are:
- FTX Global BASE Pack
- FTX Global VECTOR
- FTX Global openLC North America

The last product gives better quality over the BASE pack, right?

I prefer F1 Ultimate Terrain to Vector myself - your mileage may vary...

Global Base is textures - Open LC may include some textures but a Land Class controls where towns, villages, fields, farmland, cities, etc appear in the sim for greater accuracy... I'd recommend both of them - then download the massive FREEWARE Airports Packs - provides hundreds of improved airports...

When I decided to try this Iceland, it says "You require at least one of the following products to use FTX Global Iceland Demo.:  Orbx Libraries"

So I clicked on Orbx Libraries to download that,  it said "It appears that the page you're looking for cannot be reached."

Lovely, isn't it? :)

I tried the Iceland demo and was impressed. It however messed with my scenery files and I had to completely uninstall it unfortunately.

I still have time to decide ;)

Agreed.  It's a great product, but it never goes on sale and at ~$150 USD , the five areas only cover a portion of the globe.

Still, I would not hesitate to recommend it if flying is limited to one or two areas.

Otherwise, IMHO, the current sale price of $42.37 AUD more than makes up for any of FTX Global Vector's perceived deficiencies.

Maybe you mean GSX? Ultimate terrain X as far as I know is just US and Europe. 

 

And GSX is not the same/equivalent to vector, it's just textures like FTX Global.

Maybe you mean GEX. GSX is a program by FSDT that handles gate operations.

GEX is a texture replacement like ORBX Global. 

to bad for me they only offer payment with credit card.

Nope,  I meant Ultimate Terrain.  The five areas (each a separate package) are; Alaska X, Canada V2, Europe V2, USA V2, and Tropical America and Caribbean V2, which covers Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean Islands.

This is a good deal, thinking of adding some more..but I have a Q. When the P3D V4 comes out, would this require a repurchase or are they free upgrades? Did FTX make any announcement on this? 

 

One other thing, i don't see Paypal in their payment option.. Hmm...

Hi,
ORBX made an official announcement there will be no additional cost of their products for "the P3D" that coming up. It's on their forum.

I have been monitoring closely my VAS and without the regions I get pretty high VAS usage already so I have to stick with Global + Vector + LC for now.
