Horrendous FSDT LAX ground texture

I am guessing that this is happening because of the shadows from the dynamic light. is there any way to fix this?

FSDT KLAX surface textures have always looked dodgy on my system at night. They had a sort of rainbow "iridescence" when illuminated by aircraft landing or taxi lights. Almost like an oil film on wet pavement.

I haven't tried FSDT KLAX at night since updating to P3DV4, but your screen cap looks similar to what I used to see.

I've found this to be the case on most FSDT runway textures especially Charlotte which I purchased last night. The dynamic lighting looks ok on the apron and taxiways but the runway is too dark and strange looking.

I hope they visit this for those of us that like night flying.

i tested vancouver yesterday and the ground texture made me dizzy when using dynamic lighting :( no problems when using flytampa or other airports.

I saw this as well after I purchased KCLT from FSDreamteam. This looks to just how the dynamic lighting is working with the bump mapping of the surface. It appears to be how the shader of the taxiway surface is working with the low angle of the light on the front wheel.

I have also notices some of the "rainbow 'iridescence'" that JRBarret mentioned. I see this in the grassy areas at night. It look like there is color banding and blotchy colors. I'll review my settings later to make sure it's not because of them.

The issue with KLAX bump maps looking strange at night has been already discussed in our forum here:

And of course, it was promptly fixed in the current Live Update, as indicated in the last post of that thread.

As a suggestion, before posting on other forums about a problem with an FSDT scenery, first check our forum first, and possibly the Live Update because, the new version is able to update all the installed FSDT products in one go so, it's very likely a problem reported in the proper way (on our forum), would have been already fixed.

I'm not sure what the issue is with KCLT ground textures at night, they look perfectly fine to me, and totally unlike what has been posted here of the (now outdated) KLAX textures.

Do you see something different than this video ?

Thanks Virtuali for your response and I'm really enjoying your sceneries. You're one of the best.

P3Dv4 is in early days and I really appreciate the swift switch to 64bit by FSDT, and I'm confident you guys will iron out the few wrinkles. 

KCLT is awesome although with my settings the runway lights up much less with the DL than compared with the taxiways. Could be like this in real life, I don't know.

We're all still getting use to this new DL'g feature.

Pete, people here are talking about P3Dv4 and how brilliant it is. The new DL feature is something we're still getting use to. 

We're not sure if it's in SIM settings or actual textures from developers that affects the DL from showing up nicely.

Either way folks like Virtuali say it looks good at his end so means I can re-look at my settings and help from programs like PTA.

It's not just FSDT scenery so not necessarily their fault.

Some more fiddling with PTA for me tonight.

Ok no  worries, Virtuali  rarely   comes  in here   to  look,  and  if  users  keep posting  their  issues  in here  with out  posting  in the correct  forum how  do you expect the  dev  to find  out  and  fix  the  issues  that all i was  trying  to get  at

I hesitate to run a FSDT live update, scares me because it used to wipe out all the changes made to be compatible with Orbx FTX and I don't want to go back through that again.

Good that I'm not the only one. 
I was at Imaginesims Pudong last night and the effect made me feel all loopy in the head. Weirdest thing that I have ever seen on screen.

Yes same here at FSDT KIAH for me as well... the runway textures look bad with dynamic lights on... it's so grainy and noisy.

Again, an outdated information.

The current version of the Live Update (which has the ability to update itself, so you'll get it automatically when you start it) recognizes the OrbX fix for KLAS,

We posted this on our forum June 7th, so it was fixed on the same day after the first report on our forum that the Live Update removed the Orbx fix:

The OrbX fix for KLAX, instead, doesn't install anything in the FSDT scenery folder so, it was never removed by the Live Update in the first place.

I read that in the Orbx and FSDT forums but I was leery.  I ran live update and yes it downloaded and added 22 files for KLAX but it over wrote  the KLAS\scenery folder and I had to go back in and turn mesh-terrain.bgl OFF again.  That's the only change made to the KLAX folders in the compatibility steps so it was a minor fix.  All is good now as far as Virtuali is concerned.

This is no longer necessary in the current version of the Live Update which is online now, that removes the mesh-terrain.bgl if the OrbX fix if found.

I'll try and have a look at the textures again, and see how they compare. I'll post any information if I can confirm a difference.

Excellent... your live update is becoming a powerful tool.  Hope this improves the customer experience and decreases support issues.  This is a very hopeful trend among developers to use tools like live update, Orbx FTX Central and PMDG hot updates via their operations center.  Should make everyone happier, especially me - 80% of my FSDT compaints have been triggered when couatl updated.
