I'll check that tomorrow but it would be odd if P3D continued to emit sound when it didn't have the focus. That's a Windows rule and should not be possible for individual apps to circumvent it.

Been there for years in both FSX and P3D. Works with all versions of Windows.

Hi Ray,

If you are interested in an iPad option then I would recommend you take a look at RemoteFlight Map HD. I think it is brilliant and offers many options and is so easy to use. You have to install RemoteFlight Server on your PC to link the sim with the App. and FSUIPC is required as well. It's all explained clearly by it's very enthusiastic Author on his RemoteFlight Site. Also, it's worth noting he offers several other very useful Apps as well: https://remoteflight.net/

+111111 for this, I use this as a moving app, the interface is clean, sexy and sleek! No clutter and straight to the point.

Yes, P3D does retain sound when focus shifts. Silly me.

Hi Carl,

I've downloaded it but there are no install or connections instructions at all. I know it's using SimConnect but more info is needed.

For those recommending FSTramp I specifically want a program that runs on a separate PC to P3D, not an embedded map and specifically one that shows countries, cities, rivers etc.

Ray-

If your second PC is working correctly with SimConnect, just click the exe.  Once you get the green dot that says connected to FSX (P3Dv4 in my case), right click it and select RUN GOOGLE EARTH.  Then double click on A/C position in GE- presto.

Carl,

Okay, got it working. Can it centre the aircraft and keep it there? If you have to keep double-clicking the aircraft icon to centre it then it's not very user-friendly.

It isn't a Windows rule. As well as sound from P3D I have sound from pmSounds and ProSimAudio on the main Sim PC. It's not a problem, it's just a mode the application can use.

I've since discovered that. See my latest post.

Regarding FSTramp:

My curiosity was piqued and so I did a little research. Turns out this is 'FSNavigator' reborn!  Back in the day FSNav was possibly one of the best FS utilities ever! What's more, it appears that this welcome reincarnation is by the same author, Helge. That's the good news!

So, I rushed to look into it further only to find that, apart from the licence requirement, there has been very careful avoidance of mentioning the pricing structure on the FSTramp website. There is a 'free' trial period designed, presumably, to entice us into taking the next step. Seems quite a few people are unhappy about Helge's decision to impose an unrealistic annual licence charge for continued use of the product:

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php/98541-FSTramp-Users-Rejoice!

Also, I discovered that until the recent 6.x updates there was no ability to create Flight Plans. On the plus side it is now P3Dv4 compatible.

While I can understand his need to justify the time and effort spent developing this excellent product, Helge's explanation for adopting this approach is somewhat unconvincing and, quite clearly, is at risk of discouraging potential purchasers like myself. He would have been far better levying a one off value charge rather than attempting to lock users in in this way. Think PMDG. Imagine how we would feel if a Developer of our favourite definitive aircraft imposed such an ill thought out scheme. I know Helge is not alone in this, but the Flight Sim hobbyist community is a special case and, for the most part, unlikely to be attracted to Addons that impose recurring charges without compelling reasons for such a commitment.

I do hope Helge reconsiders. Financially it could prove to be a very wise decision 😀

$200,000 to develop FSTramp v6?  And he only gets $15 for a $35 purchase price? Someone is milking him.
