March 24, 200620 yr I was wondering what flight controls everyone uses when 'playing' Flight sim.Do you use a yoke, joystick, pedals, throttle? Can you also please like to the manufactors website when possible.I am using a suncominc yoke and throttle, but want to replace as whese are gameport and does not work with a usb convertor.I did a search but can not find a similar thread :-) Brent Lewis
March 24, 200620 yr I did a search for yokes and came up with loads of threads :-hmmm...anyway I currently use the products in my signature but it is only a matter of time before I head to this site! :9http://www.flight-simulators.co.uk/yokes.htmOoooooh the Jetliner column yoke! :9 ...someone lend me some money please! :-lol What I would like to know is ...would there be any problems using my CH Products rudder pedals and throttle quadrant with the Cirrus Jetliner yoke.? regardsEd http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v640/edetroit100/holy.gifAMD Athlon 64 3500+, 1024Mb PC3200 DDR, 300Gb HD 128Mb DDR Nvidia 6600GT PCI Express, Audigy 2 ZSCH Products Yoke, Pedals and Throttle Quadrant My FS Videos
March 24, 200620 yr I use the Cougar HOTAS and don't regret it a bit. Expensive? Yes, but worth it in my opinion....:DKevin
March 24, 200620 yr Hi Ed Do you know anyone that uses these yokes? I've been looking at the PFC products for a while now I hear their silky smooth. Like you though price is a factor. Dave
March 24, 200620 yr I use the following setup:1.) a Saitek Cyborg joystick for basic flight controls and throttle. I've got the buttons mapped to zoom in and out.2.) I use the pedals from my MOMO wheel for rudder control3.) Mouse for panning around the VC thanks to Active Camera4.) an old Playstation dualshock controller with buttons mapped to various eyepoint adjustments and to trim and rudder trim.
March 24, 200620 yr CH Products Yoke & Pedals. Not, in my opinion very good. Nor worth anything like what they cost. They're all i can afford though, and however 'not good', they're better than stick alone. March 24, 200620 yr Just a plain MS SideWinder FF2 for $$$ reasons. Quite happy with it, but extremly unhappy with FS' FF implementation... :-erks
March 24, 200620 yr You'll probably get as many different opinions as thread replies to that question. :) Yoke and rudder pedal setup is the best if you can afford it. For me however that's not in the budget. I use a Saitek X-45 and am happy with that as far as a stick goes. Don't have the link at the moment but Google will do for that.
March 24, 200620 yr >Hi Ed> Do you know anyone that uses these yokes? I've been looking>at the PFC products for a while now I hear their silky smooth.>Like you though price is a factor. DaveHello Dave, I do not know anyone personally who has the PFC gear but from what I have seen in the forums everyone who has one swears by them.I agree with another reply here that I feel the Ch Products gear is not quite good enough for the money but I could not do without my rudder pedals with toe brakes or my throttle quadrant now.I really would like a better yoke though. :) regardsEd http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v640/edetroit100/holy.gifAMD Athlon 64 3500+, 1024Mb PC3200 DDR, 300Gb HD 128Mb DDR Nvidia 6600GT PCI Express, Audigy 2 ZSCH Products Yoke, Pedals and Throttle Quadrant My FS Videos
March 24, 200620 yr "I agree with another reply here that I feel the Ch Products gear is not quite good enough for the money but I could not do without my rudder pedals with toe brakes or my throttle quadrant now."It seems to me that the CH Products Yoke, Pedals, and throttle quadrant, while not perfect, are the best at a reasonable cost. You would have to pay much more to get an improvement and some of those pricey yokes are limited to certain types of aircraft. The CH Yoke is actually a decent FS controller that may need some fine tuning. I sanded and polished the shaft on my yoke and replaced the springs with a slightly weaker set. I use the registered version of FSUIPC to set up the calibration. I also use a small amount of silicone lubricant and the control is smooth as silk.IMHO, the limit of the pedals is in the way FS9 handles yaw, not the hardware. The throttle quadrant is a bit difficult to set up, but offers great versatiliy for flying everything from a single engine prop to a 4 engine jet.As to price, Amazon.com and other sites have offered substantial discounts, at least for US customers.Dale Dale
March 25, 200620 yr I use a Saitek X45 with 3rd party drivers and a custom config profile that I made myself that lets me do most things without using the keyboard at all. Including ATC communications. And only about $80 new or $40 reconditioned from Saitek. They have a newer version out (X52) but I don't know much about the software it uses. (The X52 is not likely compatable with the drivers I use, which were originally made for the X36.)http://www.saitek.comhttp://www.mindspring.com/~haphazard/HazardScript/Before that (and before I got into flightsim) I used a Gravis Phoenix that lasted for an amazingly long time with hard usage. That was a cool joystick in it's day."Let me help you out. You're cleared to taxi any way you can to any runway you see."
March 25, 200620 yr CH Products Yolk -since it's out of warranty I installed stiffer springs. Thrustmaster Rudder Pedals-very old analog but I got them working fine with an analog to USB adapter. Track IR3 with Vector 6DOF-the best piece of hardware I ever spent money on for FS. Craig
March 25, 200620 yr Author HelloCH yoke and pedals + Goflight student pilot unit GF46 aand GF48When flying aircraft that use a stick, Saitek Evo Force along with the FSForce module by russell Dirk, i also use a Saitek PC Dash II and Track IR 3 + Vector and control Radar contact 4 using a plantronics headset and Flight Assistant 2.2 from linder software
March 26, 200620 yr I use the PFC Jetliner yoke with PFC Cirrus pedals designed for the pedestal yoke, and the PFC throttle quad. Mechanical construction is like the proverbial brick s***house...have never seen another flight controller to rival it for medium/heavy aircraft. Spring-feel system is heavy and really gives a good feel of flying the big iron. The throttle quad is a bit of a compromise, but there really aren't other good options out there.I also use a Thrustmaster Cougar HOTAS with a custom CNC-machined gimbal (the Uber II for those who care) and with Hall Effect sensors replacing the pots. For single-engine jets and helos this is as good as it gets...but then again, I have $600 in mods on a $300 flight control system. Worth it? You better believe it is.Last time one of my friends gave me grief about my expensive hardware, I had lots of fun pointing out that he had just put a $550 video card in his FS machine. My flight controls have outlasted three generations of expensive PC hardware now...so I consider both systems to be a good lasting investment.CheersBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile Bob Scott | President and CEO, AVSIM Inc ATP Gulfstream II-III-IV-V Sys1 (MSFS20+24/XPlane12+11): AMD 9800X3D, water 2x240mm, MSI MPG X670E Carbon, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, nVidia RTX4090FE Alienware AW3821DW 38" 21:9 GSync, 2x4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2x2TB Samsung 990 SSD, EVGA 1000P2 PSU, 12.9" iPad Pro Thrustmaster TCA Boeing Yoke, TCA Airbus Sidestick, Twin TCA Airbus Throttle quads, PFC Cirrus Pedals, Coolermaster HAF932 case Sys2 (P3Dv5/v4): i9-13900KS, water 2x360mm, ASUS Z790 Hero, 32GB GSkill 7800MHz CAS36, ASUS RTX4090 Samsung 55" JS8500 4K TV@60Hz, 3x 2TB WD SN850X 1x 4TB Crucial P3 M.2 NVME SSD, EVGA 1600T2 PSU Fiber link to Yamaha RX-V467 Home Theater Receiver, Polk/Klipsch 6" bookshelf speakers, Polk 12" subwoofer, 12.9" iPad Pro PFC yoke/throttle quad/pedals with custom Hall sensor retrofit, Thermaltake View 71 case, Stream Deck XL button box Sys3 (DCS/P3Dv4/ATS/ETS): AMD 7800X3D, MSI MPG X870E Carbon, Noctua NH-D15S, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, EVGA RTX3090 Alienware AW3420DW 34" 21:9 GSync, Corsair HX1000i PSU, 4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2TB Samsung 970Evo Plus, TM TCA Officer Pack, Saitek combat pedals, TM Warthog, TM RS300 FF wheel/pedals, Coolermaster HAF XB case
