Your craziest AI experience

Featured Replies

What is the craziest experience you have had with AI aircraft? I had just virtually completed a two and half hour flight from KMIA to TNCM and just as i was 40 foot from runway a bloody AI ga aircraft just careered out of nowhere onto the runway and i flattened it, talk about an anti climax, i feel totally frustrated now :(Paul.

Had spent ages setting up the LvlD with FS2Crew this morn for a flight from EGCC to KSFB, got the real world weather got real flight plans from the net. All in all took about an hour to get ready, completed push back then this bl**dy BA 146 decided to come from behind me taxi into me and then I got the famous " aircraft crash". Pure magic!!!!Richard

Landed at lemd to discover an a320 occupied my assigned gate......??Paul@ehgg

>Landed at lemd to discover an a320 occupied my assigned>gate......??>>Paul@ehggI believe, from what I've heard, that can happen if the afcad for the airport is missing one or more hold short lines. If an arriving aircraft does not cross over a hold short line, it'll still taxi to the gate as normal, but FS won't track it and will still consider that gate/parking spot vacant..... I've had that problem at Atlanta: taxi to gate, already occupied; request taxi to another gate as soon as I can clear the taxi line, that gate is occupied; request taxi to GA parking, that spot is occupied. I finally ended up parking at another parking spot without ATC's help, about 30 minutes (at least) after landing...

Hi, virtual PICs. Why not fly with **HI** or **RI** in VATSIM ???? HUMAN Intelligence or REAL Intelligence ?????? Blue sky.

ATC FREQUENTLY clears me to land in vertical conflict with another aircraft, and typically will not call either one of us off until short final. I wish I had the screenshots here. Since I've been using Lee Heatherington's freeware TCAS, I can now usually avoid the midair as the two aircraft converge vertically. I'll usually go missed, as the AI tend to plod on....In fact, it was one of the main reasons I installed the TCAS gauge into ALL the airliners I fly.http://www.graphics-free.com/animations/tr...ges/plane_6.gifAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD

Following an AI C-17 out of McGuire. I was in the FSD T-38. The C-17 flew south towards DOVER AFB @ 1000 ft MSL.Jim

A few times now, I've seen aircraft land a couple miles short of the runway and roll at landing speed until it hits the runway and then slows down and taxis to the gate...

Flying out of Anchorage in a RFP 747-200 without Flight Following I hit an airliner headon at 20 something thousand feet as I was ascending to cruise altitude. I just caught a glimpse of it out of the front window then BAM. Sure wakes you up...billg

This happened to me yesterday:I decided to practice landings. So I had the aircraft placed on the active runway 34 at KSEA.I got clearance to taxi to runway 34;-) and while I was preparing the aircraft for takeoff a MD82 stopped at the holding point for RWY 34 and requested clearance for takeoff. They where told to hold short as a 747 (me) was on the runway. At that point I was ready for takeoff and wanted to request clearance...but...no way. There was no such option in the menu.So we both stood there in a deadlock and waited for five minutes until the MD82 disappeared and I got that option in the menu to request clearance.CheersThomas

Cruising at FL350 and looked out the right window just in time to see an Airbus slam into my side. I really am happy with FS9, but will immediately buy FS10 if MS has found a way to straighten out all the ridiculous AI behaviors. Even if that is the only improvement! Gives new meaning to the the notion of *artificial* intelligence ;-) Mike

I'll just give you a piece of the ATC conversation:"Cessna 172 - TRAFFIC ALERT type Boeing 747 6 o'clock" That's what I get for taking a Cessna into a big airport.

Hi,in darkness and foggy weather on final rwy 08 at Munich (EDDM). AFter I was cleared to final and switched to munich tower I was surprised by a BAE 146. The autohoroties are still investigating this near-miss. I suggest that the other pilot or the controller might have been drunk.Herman

Just after I'd downloaded this lovely A-10 and was buzzing around, I found that I must have strayed into the vicinity of an Airliner Grand Prix race......http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/145943.jpg:) :)

This was a while ago, so I don't know if it was FS9, FS2002, or even Flight Unlimited II, but I heard a controller giving an aircraft a handoff message that they were supposed to acknowledge, but they didn't, so I heard ATC asking them if they copied the message.Recently I've found out that the default Piper Cub doesn't work all that well as AI. They're rather slow to climb "Please expedite your climb to 3,500." and tend to make very wide turns when moving slowly. That can cause them to taxi through buildings. On a more humorous note, I had an interesting experience while I was checking out a BFU AI Beaver on floats that was at a land airport (someone chose the wrong Beaver for that flight plan) and getting some pics of it to use in a report to the AI package authors. I happened to fly my copter in front of the Beaver while it was taxiing to the runway and had a brief glimpse of that same Beaver go flying through the air (nose down no less) followed shortly by a "Bush Flying Unlimited 2001, you were not cleared for takeoff." Took a little experimenting to be sure, but the cause wasn't hard to figure out: The AI Beaver was setup with brakes. A little contact point editing fixed that. :)And last but not least, the view you get of an AI Beaver from the Globe Swift Amphibian's (or other select aircraft's) 2D panel view with landing gear down, landing lights on, and aircraft shadows off.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/145948.jpgOther aircraft (including the default 737) have problems of their own when viewed the same way. With shadows on, the shadows may still be affected. Weird."Let me help you out. You're cleared to taxi any way you can to any runway you see."
