April 24, 200620 yr Hi,Try putting that landclass file into it's own Landclass/scenery folder, and adding it to the scenery library separately? It should be lower than the main Kai Tak scenery layer.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
April 24, 200620 yr Hi Tom,thanks for your reply. I already tried a separate folder for the LC files, as suggested by Jim in his post #31, above and below the main scenery, but the trees still there.Jorge Niny
April 24, 200620 yr How do I view that video without downloading any additional software from that web site?Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
April 24, 200620 yr JorgeI have studied your picture and you still have a LC/scenery/autogen type file somewhere on your computer that is in conflict with my LC.On the right side of the picture shows trees which are not part of the Honk Kong default FS9 scenery. They should resemble Palm trees. On the upper left side of the picture there are way to many buildings even when all sliders for default Hong Kong are set to max (scenery/autogen).The grass and buildings behind the lightpoles on the left side of the picture are not typical of what should be showing including a 4 lane white highway (which appears to be missing) that passes though some of those tall buildings. You can use Kai Tak 98 without my LC files but it does not fix the problem that there is a scenery file with a different ground texture and extra autogen still on your computer somewhere.Keep in mine that some early 3rd party VHHH files affected the area around Kai Tak. The only VHHH that I found that was compatable to my Kai Tak 98 is VHHH2005b.zip. hope this helps
April 24, 200620 yr Fantastic work guys. Great airport. I have 1 question though.... I cannot get the ai a/c to use RWY13. Although I set wind at 100 degrees, they all want to use RWY 31 !!I have followed the instructions correctly (i hope) and placed the afcad file in addon scenery/scenery... where all my other afcads are.I was using Thomas Kwongs old Kai Tak previously, but i made sure to delete that one from the scenery library, then remove the folder from addon scenery, and disable an afcad i was using with his scenery.Any thoughts ? Once again congratulations.Peter Peter Schluter
April 24, 200620 yr Did you remove all the files that were also placed in the FS9 Texture folder? Most problems that occur are because of left over files from other 3rd party scenery's that got installed into folders other than the typical Addon scenery folder. Two things will keep Kai Tak 98 from working correctly.1. Left over files from previously installed scenery2. Duplicate AFCAD'sAlways reopen the original zip of the 3rd party scenery that you previously installed and remove the exact same files that were installed including files that went into the FS9 texture folder. Be sure to restore any of the FS9 default files that were also changed in other FS9 default folders.Kai Tak 98 is very dependent that all FS9 files are default files (Hong Kong VHHX area) and only one airport as per the AFCAD program (default VHHX) be listed prior to installation.
April 24, 200620 yr Hi,You must make sure that you are also resetting the ATC, not just changing the wind direction. Try this:1. Change wind direction to 130 degrees, speed 1 kt.2. Choose World/Map, change your heading by 1 degree, and click OK.3. Now wait for the AI aircraft to depart - they should use runway 13. If not, then you do have some conflicting BGL files still in your installation somewhere, as Jim described.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
April 24, 200620 yr It seems to be working fine now, i will check my files anyway. Thanks for the assistance. I am so impressed with this ... well done to you !Peter Peter Schluter
April 25, 200620 yr Use the addon as in the title, then you can see, and EASILY change to the AI on approach. Works very well!It in the library.JohanA LITTLE LESS CONVERSATION, AND A LITTLE MORE ACTION PLEASE!HELP:http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=238882
April 25, 200620 yr I have to add my voice and thank Jim and all concerned! This scenery is fantastic and even runs well on my ancient PC!! I think Jim said that this is a work in progress, I can't wait to see what he adds if this is the case. Thanks again, Regards, Stan(EGPE)P.S: I also experienced the memory leak but eventually worked out where to create a new folder, move the LC file and add to the scenery library...
April 25, 200620 yr Thank you for an excellent scenery.I'm using hkautogen2 as well and implemented your flight plans into my set of PAI aircrafts. All is bliss....A little mending was needed as I didn't had all the textures, but a quick visit to PAI solved everything.Nice RWY13 landings.....beautiful!I even reduced the speed to KIAS (subtracted 200 from all settings), but I guess PAI's FDE's might not be quite up to the task, as basically ALL of the real heavies tend to land slightly left of center line...seems as though the incoming speed is too high or so... any way the align nicely before turning off the RWY. but the smaller ..say 737's hit center spot on...just wanted some L1011's but I think I could dream a few schedules up somewhere....excellent scenery already recommended to all I know!Thank you again..
April 25, 200620 yr DanDo not change any of the aircraft speeds in the aircraft.cfg file. These must always be KTAS as per MSN (except the max overspeed which is the barber pole). My reference to aircraft speed is for the TTools compiler and the Aircraft.txt file that goes with the Flightplan.txt and the Airport.txtBecause I use the "@" symbol in the FP's some computers need a lower Aircraft.txt speed then the KTAS. This is due to timing controls that FS9 added that where not in FS2002 when using the TTools compiler.Several years ago MRAI did some of the studies on the use of the "@" symbol and what is required for all AI Planes to materialize into the visual AI Zone. That is entirely another post.Keep in mind that the Flight Dynamics of the Aircraft.cfg and the .air file control the sink rate of the plane when it is down and dirty at slow speeds in a turn. Most FD's and air files are tweak by the designer for straightin landings. A straightin landing from 30 miles out uses the runway center line and bars to align the AI plane for landing (based on the FS9 default AI seperation Waypoint). In a curved approach the AI Plane is flying on a heading value until it makes the turn then it has to find the runway center line. The closer the turn to the runway the more sensitive the Heavy plane is to find the center line. In most cases they can't align 100 percent until they are on the ground. If I was to move the turn to final back away from the threshold of the runway then yes the heavy may align a little better (like the smaller jets). However that defeats the 088 degree heading to the checkerboard prior to the turn.Maybe in the future FD designers will realize that MSN wrote AI Plane curved approaches in FS9 (LDA, Circle to Land, VOR/DME) for their default aircraft and AI Plane tesing should also include these type approaches.
April 25, 200620 yr I downloaded late last night (UK time) and had a quick look. All I can say to Jim and the team EXCELLENT, I can once again crash and burn 4 out of 5 times trying to get the 744 into rwy 13 :D although the curved lights approach does help.I do not use AI traffic but just having frame rate friendly KaiTak back is brilliant. Many thanks to all involved. :-beerchug :-beerchug
April 25, 200620 yr Hi Jim,There is no need to remove the scenery layers from the FS Scenery Library. You only need to uncheck the Kai Tak 98 layers and check the Kai Tak 63 layers to go back in time, and visa versa to return to modern times. While AFCAD will report both layers present, one set will be grayed out and the other will be black. This works fine, both in AFCAD and in FS.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
