April 26, 200620 yr Tom,Thanks for all the help you have been giving. I have the same problem that Manny mentioned. UT works fine except incoming will not use rwy 13. This will be a stupid question but I am unable to figure out how to reset the ATC and wind? I know it must be simple but I am missing something. Also have installed the additional add ons VHHH2005b and hautogen2, What a joy to have VHHX back and it has excellent frame rates. Thanks so much for all those fine folks that put this airport back in service.Carl Carl PC AMD Ryzen R7-5700G (8-Core) processor), AMD Radeon RX 6600 Graphics 8GB/ 2TB HD + 500GB SSD, 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM, Win11 _____________________________________________________________________________________
April 26, 200620 yr OK.. I have introduced memory leak. I was just sitting here at Kai Tak wattching the AI's coming in to land on Rwy13 and my PF usage was growing and it grew to become 1.7GB and out of memory CTD.I'll have to try to remove those three addons. I added today. vhhh2005b.ziphkautogen2.zipThe autogen is one file. Easy to remove.. but the vhhh2005b. Hmmm... It seemed to overwrite some files. Sheesh!I never should have trusted a program that says .."if it says overwrite? say yes" and also doesn't tell you what folder to backup. It wrote whole bunch of files into cities/hongkong/texture. I wonder if I could deleted the files in there and then copy it from another FS sim install.Hmmm... Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
April 26, 200620 yr Hi,A memory leak can be caused by the landclass BGL files. You need to place all files in the Kai Tak 98 folder that have LC or WC in the title into their own folder system. I would suggest putting them into Kai Tak 98 LC/scenery. Note that there should NOT be a TEXTURE folder, just SCENERY. Then activate the Kai Tak 98 LC scenery layer in the Scenery Library. Put it just below the Kai Tak 98 layer. This should fix it.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
April 26, 200620 yr Hi,I don't think there is a way to change the wind in AS, since it is reading the weather from the internet. However, once that is finished you can change the wind manually:1. World/Weather2. Click the User Defined weather radio button (not sure what it's called).3. Then click Change Weather button4. On the wind compass, click the direction of the wind you want. Use 130 for runway 13.5. Click OK until back to FS.Then reset ATC:1. World/Map2. Change your Heading by one degree3. Click OK.Now AI aircraft (and ATC) should use runway 13.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
April 26, 200620 yr Hi,The special approaches are located inside Jim Vile's BGL files and have to be hand coded, since there is no utility program that can help with that. That turn to final by AI aircraft is the reason I decided to participate in this project in the first place. Jim created this airport as part of his Active Approach series. He has done others (mostly approaches only, unlike this airport which also has scenery) that also have AI aircraft making turns to final approach. One I know of is Honolulu (PHNL), but I know there are others.Do an Extended Search here for Vile as author, and you will find the others.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
April 27, 200620 yr Thanks Tom for your help,Now having aircraft landing using rwy 13. Great sight to behold.Carl Carl PC AMD Ryzen R7-5700G (8-Core) processor), AMD Radeon RX 6600 Graphics 8GB/ 2TB HD + 500GB SSD, 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM, Win11 _____________________________________________________________________________________
April 27, 200620 yr Hi,for all registered users os FSUIPC, there's an elegant solution to setting AI traffic percentage. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/147965.jpg1. Press the key(s) you want to assign2. Select "Traffic Density Set" from the dropdown menu3. Under "Parameter" put the desired percentage of AI you want to assign to this keyI have set 0, 20, 50, 70 and 100% to these keys: CTRL+SHIFT+NUM - (minus) for 0, then CTRL+SHIFT+NUM 2; CTRL+SHIFT+NUM 5; CTRL+SHIFT+NUM 7 and CTRL+SHIFT+NUM + (plus). So with just a single keypress (ok, triple ;) ) I can set the desired AI percentage from 0 to 100% in the middle of a flight without accessing any menu.Big thanks from me as well to Jim, Tom and the rest for this wonderful add-on!Regards,Jure
April 27, 200620 yr Did you work or attend Comair Academy? I used to work there from 1997 to 2001 I started as the shuttle driver, then went to Aircraft records. When were u there??
April 27, 200620 yr Manny, If you look inside the folder "cities/hongkong/texture", you will have noticed that the author of vhhh2000b has already created a backup of that particular folder for you. It's named texture_old.
April 28, 200620 yr Thanks Thomas.. I did notice that later. And yeah.. I removed that scenary and I still have memory leaks.. so it may not be vhhh2000b that is doing it.Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
April 28, 200620 yr Hi Mark:Florida, eh? Nice! Did you get the AI working? I can help you with it if you want, it's actually pretty simple, really, at least for my present-day, MyTraffic fleet. All you need is TTools. It should work for any traffic program, as long as you know where to find the traffic.bgl.We can do it over the phone, but e-mail me first so we can work the call around the kids' sleep schedules, etc.Later Then,http://www.graphics-free.com/animations/tr...ges/plane_6.gifAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD410-296-3109 PowerSpec G426 PC running Windows 11 Pro 64-bit OS, Intel Core i7 11700K @ 3.60GHz 30 °C, 4089MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 , ASUS TUF Z590-Plus Gaming motherboard, Samsung 870 EVO 2TB SSD, Samsung 750 EVO 500GB SSD, Acer Predator X34 34" curved monitor (external view), RealSim Gear G-1000 avionics suite, RealSim Gear GNS 450, Slavix Stay Level Custom Metal Panel, Honeycomb Alpha Yoke, Redbird Alloy THI, Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals.

April 29, 200620 yr Just to add my thanks at last a non slide show Kaitak on my lowish end system.Keep up the good work guys. John
May 1, 200620 yr ...and thanks as well from me to all of those involved. I too, have been staying up WAY to late flying the rnwy 13 LDA "checkerboard" over and over again. The extra autogen file addon textures do not display on my system however, so I end up with a bunch of grey buildings, kind-of like what you might see in Google Earth's big-city representations. Think I'm going to yank it. The Kaitak scenery is truly wonderful! Many Thanks, http://www.graphics-free.com/animations/tr...ges/plane_6.gifAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD PowerSpec G426 PC running Windows 11 Pro 64-bit OS, Intel Core i7 11700K @ 3.60GHz 30 °C, 4089MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 , ASUS TUF Z590-Plus Gaming motherboard, Samsung 870 EVO 2TB SSD, Samsung 750 EVO 500GB SSD, Acer Predator X34 34" curved monitor (external view), RealSim Gear G-1000 avionics suite, RealSim Gear GNS 450, Slavix Stay Level Custom Metal Panel, Honeycomb Alpha Yoke, Redbird Alloy THI, Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals.
May 1, 200620 yr The extra autogen bgl is based on FS9's default autogen textures for the ASIA region. So you don't have to activate an extra scenery layer in the library and then set the priority, install the single Hong Kong 2004.bgl into the Kai Tak 98 scenery folder.
