I have never been completely happy with the way they look. in all scenarios.  Some are more convincing than others.

You do know, that AS16 is an abbreviation for ActiveSky 2016, right? In that context, I don't know which name would win, to be honest.

If it came down to SF3D vs AS16 - AS16, would take the trophy in my book.

I've using HIFi products for years and love it. I was just being silly because some people already are trying to compare the two when SF3D:biggrin: hasn't even been released yet.

Great idea, sir.  Will look forward to your report; you seem to be a fair person...

When I get it and share my finding you guys will soon hear about it first hand. But as many know on here I want hold back if I feel we have been let down.

Also I agree with some skepticism with REX.

You will find out soon guys.  and I will be happy or out of pocket

I do see a problem here, If its poor you will all be happy to save money. End of. But if I and others find it the next breakthrough in WX then I see a problem. Problery solved my youtubers more than screenshots from a few people here.

I will say this though.  I am really looking forward to the REX textures (or should I say, 3D cloud models).  I have been using ASCA and Envtex clouds since ASCA's release, and although they are completely fine and plausible, I have never been completely happy with the way they look. in all scenarios.  Some are more convincing than others.

Which is why I am still using the freeware (!) HDEv2 clouds. Seriously, it is utterly AMAZING how only ONE (!) bmp beats all those payware addons with thousand of textures! Imho of course. But I seriously seldom see clouds on screenshots and in video’s that look better than the clouds that my one cumulus01.bmp produces (in conjunction with AS).

You really don’t need thousands of textures to enjoy great and varied skies.

I don't know, Anders...SkyForce is pretty 'sexy.'  I'll give it the node

Well, yes, REX is good at one thing: using sexy words. So far that’s all as far as I am concerned though.

I obviously feel the same, Jeroen.

I suppose that's true... There's more power behind the word SkyForce, than ActiveSky.

That's precisely my view as well. Although impressive, I'm not concerned with how many themes and models there are. Although I have a basic understanding of weather, 'm not a meteorologist.  If I'm doing a 10 hour flight and fly through varying climate and weather zones, I want Skyforce to present the appropriate cloud model and weather simulation throughout the flight based on its interpretation of what is appropriate - and NOT on a selection of clouds that I have decided 'look nice'.  It's not a chocolate shop. This is a weather application based on scientific principles and I'd like them to be applied without my hack knowledge of weather.  If it does that, super.

I agree as well. I'm not going to be screwing around with "themes". Like I have now, I want everything changed dynamically. Sky textures, cloud types, etc.... I don't and won't pick a theme per flight. Maybe I'll just use this for the clouds and AS for everything else.
