P3Dv4.2 Good nVidia Inspector Results!

Featured Replies

This really surprised me. I understood that with P3D, then nVidia Inspector was not only no longer required, but was detrimental to the sim.  After watching a recent YouTube vid, I thought I'd give it another go...

Although my monitor won't do 60htz, I'm now using Inspector set at 29.5fps and 1/2 refresh rate.  The results are excellent and I'm well pleased. Its definitely considerably smoother that when set to either locked or 30fps in the sim.

Phil - NVI is and has been just fine with P3D - all versions. ANY program can be detrimental if not used properly but using NVI judiciously for a setting or two causes no harm to your system. As always, each system is different and some might not get the same results.  Before I got the 4K monitor I was using NVI to set 4sgss for my AA.

Just set the P3D default profile in NVI and adjust as necessary.

When i 1st switched from FSX to P3D, I had all sorts of problems trying to carry on using it, so I just ditched it, never to use it again until today;-)

Have you experienced blurries with an unlimited setting?

I recall that a 1/2 refresh setting worked in FSX, but not in P3d v4. I can try the setting suggested by the video, but I'm a bit skeptical that it will actually work on my system.

I'll give it a final try.

1/2 refresh in nvi does zero.

The resason: p3d does not do true full screen. It’s a borderless window. The special nvidia vsync modes have to have a full screen application to function.

I think this has been beaten to death over the last few years. Now, unless 4.2 suddenly has a real full screen mode?

Tested and it still does not work at 1/2 refresh rate + setting p3d v4 to unlimited fps will cause blurries with my 2600K.

I seriously doubt that any current CPU will keep up with the demands of p3d v4 at unlimited fps or any other high end flightsim.

At least it did not hurt to try.

Interesting. Certainly no blurries here and neither is a placebo effect. The stuttering i was getting is gone, so something happens.

Funny things these computers. Granted, I usually only fly GA aircraft but I've never seen a blurry texture in P3Dv4. I normally don't max all the sliders but I just ran a 60-minute test flight out of KLAX with all the scenery sliders full right, frame rate unlimited, 100% traffic, 16x anisio, 8xSSAA, a full install of all ORBX scenery, and 4096 textures and still didn't see a blurry (but the frame rate sucked a bit ).....Doug

VIC,

If IN works, why, when I select no AA in P3dv42, do I not see the results of the NI settings: Override, 8xSQ, 8s SGSS. I'm a bit confused. It seems to me that I MUST set P3D to something. What are your exact settings please?

Thanks.

I have a 4k monitor myself and thus only use MSAAx8 in the P3D settings. What I have just started doing though is adding something to that. I use Gerard's 12 month presets and noticed he has FXAA checked and he says it needs to be on. I have found that turning it on in NI instead of in P3D is much better and I don't get any panel font distortion. This, for me, helps smooth out what jaggies I do have in the sim. Granted not all like super sampling type AA would but it does help and I have zero performance loss. I am on a 1080Ti though.

In combination with autohotkeyU64 and it's script you will have a borderless window ;-) So it will work ;-)
