How far has the 747-8 been developed?

Not on my screen. At 06:37 AM New York time, I see 32 Boeing 747-8s and 31 MD-11s airborne. Out of 31 MD-11s, I see one Lufthansa Cargo with the rest being FedEx and UPS. Out of 32 Boeing 747-8s, I see Korean Air, Cathay Pacific, Polar Air Cargo, Lufthansa, UPS, Atlas Air, Air Bridge Cargo, Cargolux, and Nippon Cargo. So MD-11s operated by 3 different carriers versus 747-8s operated by 9 different carriers. Do you see a problem with your theory?

What's your point?

I am guessing his point is that there were more MD-11s on active duty at that date and time than there were 747-8s......thereby implying that a new version of the PMDG MD11 would be justified. I am sure that Boomer will be along shortly to back up this suggestion

Second only to XPL Evangelists are the MD-11 Die Hards, lurking to awkwardly force their pet topic into completely unrelated conversations...

"Hey Ryan, I'm running to grab coffee, you want some?"
"Su..."
"HEY GUYS THE MD-11 WAS A THING!"

"Cool, grande or do you want a..."
"XPL IS THE FUTURE!"
"...venti?"

General rules of thumb when it comes to making a point that is to be taken seriously:

  1. Don't be passive; and
  2. Stick to the topic - if your desire is to shift the topic, shift the topic
(In the forum, this is done by starting a new thread, or making a well-thought-out post in an existing thread with a clear shift in direction)

I wonder if Robert has the time to secretly scroll through this forum and have an evil chuckle at topics like this one?

And now at 18:56 PM New York time, I see 35 Boeing 747-8s and 27 MD-11s airborne. Same carriers as listed earlier above, minus Cargolux. I rest my case.

hahaha 😄 I've just watched a video on YT, LX65, Swiss A330 taking off from Miami Intl... And the Captain says "oh look, an MD-11" 😄 I had to smile a bit... I've never heard of a pilot who didn't love the 11 😄

So come on... let us dream... she's one of the most beautiful tubes ever flown and we all know that it's hopeless by PMDG. 😘

,

Far more interesting (well, to me anyway) is that at this very moment there is a single Grumman G-73T Turbo Mallard flying in northern Australia!

Now come on - that's pretty cool!😎

Was at LAX twice in January and noticed the Lufthansa Cargo MD-11 both times (and the Sands Casino 747SP, too). It's not like I don't appreciate the thing...just kinda tired of the shoehorning of the topic.

So what you are saying is that Ryan wants an MD-11 as well? Not changing the topic or anything, but how is Ryan? We haven't seen him around here for a while.

MIA was home base for many (many) years. Personally, I miss the L-1011 - to me, one of the most beautiful big birds to ever fly, and tech-wise it was way - and I do mean way - ahead of its time. But, you do have to sell some of them to actually make a go of it...that little experiment turned Lockheed off of commercial aviation for good. 😓
