Are the engines on the 747-8 the same as the ones on the 787?

Am I the only one having trouble getting excited about the 8?  I have the 400 and love it but the 8 with its very limited list of real world operators (only Lufthansa, Air China and Korean with orders for Cathay in the pax space and then only cargo for the rest.....none of whom have actually taken a delivery btw) is just not doing it for me.  I am sure its great but where will I fly it?  I tend to like to fly either current or history real world routes and operators and none of these would be of interest really....except maybe UPS once they take delivery.  I just can't see myself purchasing this expansion based on its very limited real world use.

You serious? UPS have already been flying their 748F aircraft, then we have Silkway, AirBridgeCargo, Atlas, Cathay Pacific Cargo, Nippon Cargo, Cargolux, Korean Cago, just to name a few...

Happily flight sim is not the real world the 747 will be history in a few years, no more 747 in our sky's or in real world AI programs.

Is this a P3D only expansion? What about FSX?

All mention on the EFB is about P3D.

Yep, just slightly smaller with a slightly different turbine core and slightly lower thrust.

My mistake they have 5 of them so far.  Still very limited options unless you love to haul cargo.  I guess it also depends on the cost of the extension.  At $29.99 there is not much issue but at 89.99 I question the value.

EFB, moving map and VSD will be there in FSX as well. Rainmaker will be only P3Dv4 though as already mentioned from Robert

Sure there isn't too many operators flying the pax variant. You can add to the list a Qatar VIP aircraft which - at least in the sim world - can also be utilised on passenger services.
