100m people may have used it before, I hadnt.  I figured it out, you need to download the app, then paste the link into the app to join it as a server!  Not quite as easy s just clicking a link.

Anyway I talked to reed, fair play to them for engaging over any issues people have.

Not really. I also use Discord but never installed an app. I would never have used it if I was forced to install an app for it. I simply use Discord using my browser.

And btw I don't understand why people and specially companies would want to use Discord: I prefer a good old forum at all times. With just a few people around already those chats become a mess pretty quickly and are hard to follow.

Well I did suggest to Reed that an open thread would have been easier for me, but I passed some constructive feedback and all I can say is that they listened.  Happy days 🙂

Maybe the app thing was my iPhone, it refused to do anything other than open the discord app in the app store....

I just watched the interview D'Andre did with Tim on Environment Force on the REX Environment Force forum.   I really miss D'Andre's presence in the community - he did great work and always asked/asks the right questions during interview with developers.

If you haven't seen it, take a look.  I am really looking forward to this and Tim did a great job of explaining what it does.    I was very envious when I saw the upcoming XEnviro for Xplane delivering dynamically changing/forming cloud, but Environment Force seems to be doing the same

I haven't read this thread over again, so not sure what's been confirmed by Reed or not, but the interview is worth seeing if you haven't seen it yet.

What is this product exactly.. real-time weather engine, custom weather creator, PTA replacement, something else? I read the description but I don't know how I would incorporate this product in my flying (I'm always flying with real time weather).

It is not a weather engine, but it can be used with ANY weather engine as well as ASCA and ENVTEX. If you watch the video posted above by ErichB, D'Andre does an interview and they show a good bit of previews on Environment Force and what it will do.

Some key points taken from Reed on REX's Discord are it will have weather smoothing so if you are using a weather engine that does not natively have weather smoothing, Environment Force will add that. Clouds and storm systems will grow or dissipate instead of just appearing. Shaders are all done on the fly, so your cloud coloring, scene lighting and water enhancing will all be done in sim...also it can be done manually how you like, or automatically based on real weather. 

I am looking forward to it.

If this is what it actually does, that would be pretty neat, and maybe worth the purchase.  If it’s only going to allow me to tweak my shaders without shutting down the sim, I’ll pass.  Someone else will do that work, post their settings online, and I’ll happily use their settings.
