I want to download the EFB2 demo...but I have to register to download. OMG.  I am tired of registering everywhere, and this is quite annoying to download a demo (will pass for now), but this is an interesting thread.

Such is life.  😉

They may look different but that doesn't make them fake or less real, I suppose.

Not all info is provided by EFB2.. For example minimums. Yes... it is printed, but is calculated and can differ from the real minimums.
Also I'm not sure if all holdings are provided.

Nevertheless there are minor issues for me, and I already have cancelled my Navigraph charts subscription. I have 3 months leftto get used to the EFB charts 😉

Is there any plans for an iPad version? That is the only reason I use Navigraph Charts.

You have to ask the developer...
Nevertheless since it is a Windows application developed using C#, changes for a iPad version is very slim.
Well... he could try to use Xamarin but even that will be a massive undertaking.

Hi Simon,

It will depend on which aircraft you will use.

If I am correct, PMDG commercial aircraft will successively introduce EFBs integrated into their flight decks.

If you choose not to wait or you fly other airframes, then EFB 2 may be an excellent choice for you.

This may be called 'efb' but it does so much more than provide charts. I would be shocked if an efb development within a PMDG package was anything like what this can do.

I have been simming for a long , long time, and probably fly around 700+ hours a year or more. EFB has taught me more in the few weeks I have used it, than I have learned in the last couple of years. It's the best.

Anybody else having a frame rate hit and stutters usually on approach with pmdg 777 and payware airports ? never had it bad with the previous version. My system is old but runs fsx se perfect medium high so I don't think its the hardware but could be wrong

Do you have specific examples please? I am sure Urs would be extremely interested to know about and fix them. Thanks for helping-

I use navigraph ultimate because of one very simple reason.

All the charts are on there app for an iPad.

0 cpu hit

You can set up flights with the airport charts and save as a flight, nice moving map also.

Yeah the moving arrow showing exactly where you are on approach chart is especially good but how does one choose SIDS and STARS when flying VATSIM? EFB give them to you on a platter which is an outstanding feature

ZORAN

I Don't fly on VATSIM, I use PROATC and that gives you your SID/STAR.

After a while I can say I settled for both. For me, one doesn't replace the other. EFB2 offers so much when it comes to awareness, looking up sids/stars, approaches, simply very fast analysis tool. For instance, when I decide which approach I will use, and it also pulls the data from Activesky, I then open the chart in the Navigraph, which gives more detailed info. Many of the info is redundant, but I can also read the minimums, airport briefing, low visibility procedures (very useful sometimes!)...

I bought the EFB2, currently on monthly subscription with Navigraph, and will see how I get on. The problem is merely that I sometimes fly more, and sometimes less. Depending solely on the time of year, when I have more at work, so less at home or less time, or it's more relaxed, so I can find more time to sim.

I also use PFPX for planing and saving flightplans to load in all the other apps and aircraft. I hate typing in all the waypoints with a mouse.

Regarding the cpu hit.....I looked at networking the client but the hit is so small (on average 0.8 %) that I didn’t bother. I just let efb run on the last two cores as well.

https://forum.aivlasoft.com/topic/3092-benefits-of-running-client-on-network/

as for navigraph charts, I had the subscription for a while. But honestly, the value compared to what efb offers in one off payment just isn’t there imho.
