I wouldn't be inclined to want to future proof against P3D V5. I'd be willing to hazard a beat that V5 will run better on current hardware than V4 does

Well yes that is a good point.

Well I went ahead and ordered my 2080ti. I've been hanging on with a 780 ti to for a few years so I may as well just bite the bullet and go for the biggest upgrade I can. Can't wait for shipping day!

Edited by do_denver2

I´ll get one too. I skipped 10XX generation and since I fly VR only, my 980ti is getting older.

I´ll wait until the new i9 9900k is out tho to build a new PC.

Cheers

Carlos

Funny how some of the major tech sites are saying to hold off on the 20 series and wait for true reviews. Between the Nvida marketing hype and the outrageous prices, this is a definite wait and see card.

Prices are high, but don't forget that the 2080ti is the equivalent of the old Titan, which was always that expensive. The 2080 is more like the old ti equivalent They have just messed about with the naming and eliminated the Titan name.

Agree though, prices are ridiculous, Nvidia are taking advantage. What they might be doing is keeping the price high so that the glut of 1080 ti's gets bought.

The prices here in the U.K. are insane. £860 for the 2080; £1250 for the 2080Ti and a stonkin’ £2800 for the Titan. These are Scan prices.

Probably the worst possible time to buy given the £/$ exchange rate.

Makes no sense to me to pre order. Makes more sense to wait till prices stabilise and reviews are in.

I agree. Given the cost and the fact that until LM add the code to take advantage of Ray Tracing there may be little improvement in fps. The cost of the1080i isn't dropping much either.

I agree until an independent reviewer get his hands on them and benches them on old titles to see what they do, the present reviews are from Nvidia, and not all the upcoming titles shown at the show will use RT but will be tweaked to use some features.

There are also reports that press samples will not ship till sept and benchmarks NDA until 14sept, know by then they will have sold out the new GPUs stock.

I am guessing settings will make a big difference. Maxing out autogen with your new card still won’t get you much.

The stuff coming out right now is saying 40-50% faster with 4K. And up to twice as fast with the DLSS.  Not sure if P3D could support DLSS out of the box though...I think maybe developers have to add it?

Additionaly Chris Bell was saying that the NVLink is much faster so SLI should be a lot better.

I am contimplating going with two founders editions and thinking I’ll get 30+ FPS with the new 9900k on 3 4K OLED TV set up 🙂

however, that’s a few months off.  I really think the average 4K one screen simmer is going to see way better performance in heavy weather and overcast while being able to add some more shadows and possibly reflections.

Heathrow with max AI and max autogen is still going to be a slideshow probably
