For the record......the "scanning files" process (prior to the update being downloaded and installed) took nearly three hours on my PC!!:huh:

Same here. It's only the download I left doing its job overnight.

I used these directions to create a symbolic link for my Orbx folder on another SSD and it works flawlessly.

Help please!! Why has my C:\ drive which had a 110Gb free space last night before I started the TE Netherlands download, all of a sudden gone to red showing less than 20Gb space remaining when I set that Orbx TE Netherlands to install in a 1TB free space backup drive?

If you guys can shed light on this major headache for me, I'd be grateful, otherwise it's time to shed TE Netherlands in the bib if this is what it does!!!

Although you may be sending the Orbx files to a drive with plenty of space. It will first of all add a lot of material into a temporary download folder which is often set in the C drive by default.

Go to FTX Central, open your settings box in the bottom left hand corner. First of all manually change the Temp Download Location to a folder created somewhere where there is plenty of room.

The other thing to consider is that Orbx will also automatically check the C drive for space, even if the files are going elsewhere, and tell you if there is insufficient space. This is remedied by the unticking the Check for available disc space before downloading box.

PS - don't worry about messing anything up with the symbolic link. I've never had a problem, it just won't work if you don't do it correctly.

I don't think you can set it to install on another drive, Orbx scenery always goes into your P3D installation folder. I suspect you only moved the temp location (which is where the installer keeps the downloaded files during installation).

They are working on an FTX Central update to enable installing scenery packages on different drives (which is becoming pretty much necessary due to the size of the TE products), but for the time being, you'll probably need to move TE NL manually from the Orbx folder within the P3D folder to the separate drive and use the symbolic link method.

I installed one Orbx product the traditional way. I am not sure if it matters, but I used FTX Global. This automatically created the ORBX folder with the P3D root folder, and put in place whatever linkages are needed in the registry etc. Then I created the symbolic link to the external drive. After that, every other download went straight to the external drive.

Hi Ian. Thanks.

That was what I did after somebody here tipped me how to that that. So, I created that Temp Download Location in FTX Central to my 1Tb hard drive, thinking that the C:\ drive space of 110Gb would be safe. Left Firefox running the download overnight, woke up this morning to a shock horror to discover my C:\ space had all but disappeared !!

Okay, feeling a tad better with your Symbolic Link tip, if I get the hang of using it.

Does anyone know if the compatibility problems associated with FlyTampa Amsterdam still need addressing as reported in the Orbx forum? I presume so since not everyone would intend to use a payware addon for the airport.

More than 12 minutes to launch P3Dv4.4 since the last (TE NE) update with a default aircraft at EHAM !
2 minutes for KSEA (PNW).

I read somewhere that 4.5 was addressing load times, hopefully.
