Got lost - seems like a post is missing, but I'm sure it is just one of my brain cells.

What settings did you use for HT, AM, Vsync and FPS limiter?

Yes, keep all addons off at least the first core, to give P3D some elbow room..

Do not be afraid to experiment (!)

As you have read above, there is no "right" solution for everybody and every system

That’s what I have done for years now using Process Lasso and it works well for me. I do actually network in Active Sky but all other addons I keep off the first and second cores on my old i5-2500k that still serves me well running at 4.5Ghz on all cores.

Good luck and monitor your core loading in Process Lasso as a fair reference tool and remember the saying “everyone’s system is unique and preforms differently “

I set FFTF to AGL mode 0 - 4,000 with .01 - .4, and RTSS to Scanline Sync x/2 with monitor set to 60HZ.

How do you limit the excessive FPS? P3D's Vsync On and Unlimited frames?

Thanks

RTSS knows the frequency your monitor is running at.  So in P3Dv4, set Vsync to OFF and Framerate slider to UNLIMITED... RTSS will do the rest.  Setting Scanline Sync x/2 to any value that is not 0 (zero) will make RTSS limit the app's frame rate to half of your monitor's frequency.  Easy as that! 🍻

☝️ What he said... 🙂 In RTSS I set the Scanline Synch x/2 value to -1 and it seems to keep the tearline out of sight. FPS varies a little bit around 30.

but my sim is setup in the basement where it’s pretty cool.

ht off now

Is there any benefit to having the 4790k HT off? I also have that chip running at 4.8GHz with HT on. My cooler is a Cryorig R1 Ultimate. Temps rarely get above 75C.

In my experience, a quad core CPU, like the 4790K benefits from having HT on.

The extra cores do help.. but you have to avoid an overload condition on Core0.

If you have six or more cores, HT becomes less attractive..

Again, just my opinion
