Disturbing article

That article is about as informative as a wad of toilet paper.  The next article title from the page pretty much sums up this emag..."Neurohacker Collective has Nootropics that can Boost your Brainpower"  SMDH

It reads like a Google translation of the original Klingon version.

X-Plane founder doesn't think you will be able to build a custom plane.

“All the things that are necessary to build a truly dynamic, ever-changing, living, breathing city are literally engineered out of the system, is what it looked like,” Meyer said. And it appeared to him as if the new version would not have a way to design and use a custom airplane, a feature that X-Plane offers.

Maybe Austin could work on ground handling, weather and ATC in his own simulator before worrying about anybody else.

Yeah, what would a flight sim developer know over an AVSIM member. Stupid of me to post it. Please please forgive. lol

I didn't bother reading the article, but I have a container of stuff on my desk that does the same thing.  You probably do too.  It's called caffeine.

Unless he somehow has access to more info than anyone here does, then no, he doesn't know anything more. Not sure how you could determine that the new sim doesn't have any way to design and build new aircraft from a short teaser video. He just sounds like a competitor trying to downplay new competition while not appearing nervous.

A flight sim developer thinks you can't create aircraft. The site linked by the OP states:

Players would have an ability to edit and change the mode of the flight simulator and they can also add or change the planes during the gameplay.

Known 3rd party developers seem to not have been informed about anything to do with the new sim.

At what point does one say "Hmmm...." here? lol

describes everything on this forum! haha

There are only two things MSFS will be:

1. A flight game that won't replace any existing hardcore sim.

2. A modern replacement for a hardcore sim if you are prepared to sell your house to finance it.

Number one is almost the complete certainty.

Indeed LOL So yes, Austin knows just as much as we do.

Hmmm... again. 😜 We'll see! I myself expect (or better said: hope for) something in between 1 and 2 though. 😉

The next promo release from MS should confirm many things. They will either set things straight or flip flop around questions again. Either one should be a total confirmation.

BTW Currently my hope is at turbocharged GA cruising altitude: after the release of the trailer my hope was at airliner cruising altitudes but they've descended to a more realistic one. 😎

lol

I guess as long as you don't end up with a little girl holding a helium balloon all should be fine.

That site knows no more (and probably less, looking at the content) than we do. Also, the quote doesn't say whether or not you'll be able to create an aircraft. I agree that Austin Meyer seems to be going on the offensive to keep/increase X-Plane users before the facts about MSFS become clear.

I doubt Austin has anything to worry about given the nature of most XPlane users.

His comments look like something prepared by a marketing department.  If you take it that way there's nothing wrong with them and exactly the kind of thing you would expect.
